Today we’d like to introduce you to Arleen Rosario Padilla.
Hi Arleen, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My husbands grandmother teach me how to bake a cake from scratch and give me her recipe in 2011. But I start baking when we moved to Miami from Puerto Rico in 2016. At the beginning was very difficult for me to find a job, I’m a mom of two boys and they are everything to me. We didn’t have any family members to help us it was only me and my husband, all my friends were from Puerto Rico so I get depressed, but one day I start baking and cooking for my family and it was my therapy to get better. I fall in love with baking and create from scratch, I put all my love on all I do. Them I start getting orders from people we get known. Then we moved to Tampa and it been good and God bless us in a beautiful ways!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
At the beginning was very difficult, days without sleep trying to get everything on time and perfect. I can’t tell you how many cakes I through away because they doesn’t bake good With most of the sweets I had my struggles. But I never give up, I believe in me and keep baking and practicing. Practice make everything perfect with patience, love, dedication and time.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I’m a baker and I create custom cakes, cakepops, macarons, dessert shots, cookies, cupcakes and more. I create everything from scratch, customized for events, I help with the events ideas, final touches and desserts tables.
I’m proud on never give up on what I love to do, I’m not competing with no one’s I just do what I like with passion and love and what it’s makes me really happy is seeing my customer happy with their orders and when I receive their beautiful messages!
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
What it worked for me was taking clases, pay to people that they’ve been in the baking network for a long time, ask them for advise and acknowledge. Practice every day and keep taking classes every day you learn something new!
