Community Highlights: Meet Dr. Kristen Kleponis & Dr. Ariel Evans of Wonderfully Made Physical Therapy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Kristen Kleponis & Dr. Ariel Evans.

Hi Dr. Kristen & Dr. Ariel, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
In 2023, Ariel and I met while working for the same physical therapy company, just at different clinic locations. At that time, I had been practicing pelvic physical therapy for about three years and began mentoring Ariel as she grew interested in expanding her treatment focus to include pelvic health. We quickly became friends and realized how aligned we were—not only in our professional goals, but in our shared desire to help people feel strong, confident, and at peace in their own bodies.

As we shared our experiences, we also recognized many of the same challenges faced by healthcare providers—burnout, time constraints, and the limitations that come with working in-network with insurance companies. We both felt called to create something different: a faith-based practice that values individualized care, freedom to treat the body as a whole, and the ability to truly serve our patients without barriers.

Through prayer and God’s guidance, we made the leap to leave our jobs and open our own pelvic health practice in Lakeland. That dream became Wonderfully Made Physical Therapy, LLC. Our mission is to empower women and men through education, personalized care, and compassionate support—helping them understand that pelvic health issues like pain, leaking, or pressure are common but not normal, and that healing is possible.

Within our first year, we’ve been blessed to expand into a larger space—allowing us to grow our reach and better serve our community through both individualized treatment and education. This next chapter also opened the door to co-founding SWANN Perinatal Collaborative, a community of like-minded providers who share our heart for holistic, patient-centered care. SWANN, which stands for Strengthening Women and Nurturing Newborns, allows us to collaborate seamlessly with other professionals, ensuring that our patients receive the best interdisciplinary care possible—care guided by what’s clinically right for them, not by insurance limitations. Through this partnership, Wonderfully Made PT can stay focused on what we do best: restoring movement, function, and confidence through expert, faith-driven pelvic health care.

It’s been such a rewarding journey to see God’s hand in each step. We’re grateful every day for the opportunity to blend faith, science, and community to help people feel truly and wonderfully made.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road! Ariel and I both have Doctorates in Physical Therapy, but like most healthcare providers, we didn’t get a lot of formal training in business. So, learning how to actually run the business side of a clinic has been a huge learning curve. We’ve had to lean on a lot of great business professionals—and a lot of prayer—to help guide us through the process and make sure things run as smoothly as possible.

Balancing our time has also been tricky. We’re both full-time clinicians, so juggling patient care, admin work, home/family life, and all the behind-the-scenes details can definitely stretch us some days. It’s taught us a lot about boundaries, teamwork, and giving ourselves grace when everything doesn’t go perfectly.

One of the other challenges has been helping new patients understand the value of out-of-network care. We totally get that it can be hard to spend more upfront when you already have insurance. But what we’ve seen time and time again is how much better outcomes are when we’re free to treat the whole person—without the time limits or restrictions that come with in-network coverage. We do our best to explain that difference, provide superbills for partial reimbursement, and offer flexible payment plans to make care as accessible as possible.

So yes, there have definitely been challenges—but every one of them has grown us and reinforced why we started Wonderfully Made PT in the first place. We’ve seen God’s faithfulness in every step, even in the hard ones, and that’s made the journey so worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Wonderfully Made Physical Therapy, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Wonderfully Made Physical Therapy, we specialize in pelvic health and orthopedic physical therapy for both women and men, with a special focus on pregnancy, postpartum, and all stages of a woman’s life—including perimenopause and beyond. We treat everything from pelvic pain, leaking, prolapse, and diastasis recti to hip, back, and core dysfunctions that are often connected to the pelvic floor.

What really sets us apart is the way we approach care. We believe the body was wonderfully made—created with purpose and designed for healing. Our treatment philosophy is faith-based, whole-body, and highly individualized. That means we take time to really listen, to understand not just the symptoms, but the person behind them. We want our patients to leave every session feeling seen, supported, and empowered to move confidently again.

By operating out-of-network with insurance, we’re able to prioritize quality over quantity. That freedom allows us to offer longer one-on-one sessions, take a more comprehensive look at how the whole body is functioning, and design care plans that truly meet each person’s needs—not just what fits into an insurance box. Every one of our patients receives their therapist’s direct line, for texts or calls as needed throughout their care plan. They do not have to go through a medical assistant or nurse first, just straight to the main provider. We also host education and community workshops to spread awareness that pelvic health issues are common, but not normal—and that help is available.

Brand-wise, we’re most proud of creating a space where faith and medicine meet—where patients feel comfortable discussing not only their physical health, but also how stress, faith, and life experiences impact their healing. We also offer in-home physical therapy sessions for patients who need or prefer care in the comfort of their own homes—whether it’s a new mom recovering postpartum, someone managing pain or mobility challenges, or anyone who simply feels more supported starting their healing journey at home.

Above all, we want readers to know that you don’t have to live with symptoms that limit your daily life, your relationships, or your confidence. There is hope, there is healing, and we would be honored to walk alongside you in that process.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Something that might surprise people is how much of our work is guided by faith behind the scenes. While most see the clinical side—treating patients, running a clinic, and educating the community—they might not realize that decisions about the practice, our growth, and even big moves like opening or expanding the clinic are deeply rooted in prayer and trusting God’s timing.

What people might also not know is how much joy we get from the “small wins” with our patients. Whether it’s helping a mom start to feel more like herself with a postpartum workout using only a stroller because the baby won’t sleep, or giving patients the space to share deeply personal things they’ve never felt comfortable saying out loud—to themselves, a medical provider, or even their partner—these moments are incredibly rewarding. And when patients stand up from the treatment table and say, “Wow, I feel so different, so much better!”—that never gets old. They may not make headlines, but they’re at the heart of why we do this work and what makes every challenge worthwhile.
