Inspiring Conversations with Corinne Zimmer of Corinne Zimmer, PsyD LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Corinne Zimmer.

Hi Corinne , it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I grew up immersed in the healthcare world, with my family dedicated to geriatric care. From an early age, I developed a deep appreciation for holistic health and the understanding that true healing involves the mind, body, and spirit. I soon realized that my natural strengths and passions centered around meaningful, intentional conversations—guiding people through self-understanding and growth. This led me to the field of psychology, and more specifically, health psychology—a perfect blend of supporting people’s wellness goals while helping them navigate challenges and create lasting change.

I went on to earn a graduate degree in the field, training under inspiring female mentors who were pioneers in health psychology and who encouraged me to follow in their footsteps. After several rewarding years working in university and hospital settings, I became a mother and felt called to build something of my own. That leap of faith became my private practice, where I now provide tailored mental health therapy for teens and adults across the lifespan.

Today, I’m deeply grateful for a career that allows me to blend purpose, connection, and balance—supporting others on their healing journeys while also being present for my own family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
While I’ve been fortunate to have incredible support throughout my journey—from graduate school to my first jobs and eventually launching my own practice—it hasn’t been without its challenges. I’ve learned firsthand that it truly takes a village to do hard things, and I wouldn’t be where I am today without the guidance and encouragement of my mentors, friends, and family.

One of the biggest transitions came when I became a new mother and decided to leave the stability of traditional employment to build my own private practice. It was both exciting and nerve-wracking—filled with moments of doubt and questions about whether I’d made the right choice or if my priorities were in balance. But that season taught me so much about grit, perseverance, and the importance of trusting myself. Looking back, I’m grateful for those challenges—they shaped me into the clinician, mother, and person I am today.

I’m the owner of a small, boutique practice in South Tampa, FL, dedicated to providing holistic, individualized, and patient-centered care. My approach emphasizes the connection between physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational wellbeing—recognizing that true healing happens when the whole person is supported.

My office, located in a charming historic bungalow in Hyde Park, offers a warm and inviting space where clients can feel at ease. My therapy style is equally welcoming—rooted in compassion, authenticity, and collaboration. Together, we’ll explore meaningful tools and strategies to help you move forward, uncover your resilience, and navigate life’s transitions with humor, grace, and acceptance.

I specialize in working with adolescents, college students, professionals, and adults across the lifespan, addressing concerns such as stress management, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, adapting to chronic illness, and creating sustainable lifestyle changes. My goal is to help each client not only feel better, but thrive—mentally, emotionally, and holistically.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
Lately, I’ve noticed—both in my own life and in the lives of many of my clients—that the pace of the world can feel increasingly hectic and heavy. Our minds and bodies are feeling the weight of constant demands, and it’s more important than ever to recognize how stress impacts not only our own wellbeing but also our relationships.

While professional therapy can be a valuable resource, there are also simple, evidence-based practices you can incorporate at home to help ease the effects of stress. Taking mindful pauses throughout the day, practicing deep breathing, or spending a few minutes journaling can make a meaningful difference in how we move through our daily lives—with greater calm, clarity, and connection.
