Exploring Life & Business with Amanda Kelderman of Amanda Moves Fitness & Nutrition

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Kelderman.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Working 9-5pm in the corporate world, I randomly took a free yoga class and fell in love. Immediately I started immersing myself in the yoga community, I could not get enough. Eventually this led to me getting my Yoga Teacher Training. I would provide free / donation based classes to anyone who wanted a friendly and approachable environment throughout the area, wherever and whenever I could. From there my love for the fitness industry blossomed. It is such an incredible feeling watching people achieve things they never saw themselves achieving. Feeling better when they had given up on ever feeling good. Being able to move better, gain confidence, the list goes on and on! I took more yoga training, got my spin certification, followed by becoming a Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Nutrition Specialist.
A few years ago I decided to finally take the leap and leave the corporate world to focus on making a career of fitness full time. I have never looked back.
After having my daughter two years ago I really started to see a major lacking in the fitness industry and what it has to offer moms. July I decided to make another huge leap and started Amanda Moves Fitness & Nutrition with clients in person and virtually, I cater to whatever that client needs and how we can make it work in their lifestyle.
Fitness and health in general should be available for every and anyone. No one should stay away because they are afraid of judgement, have a crazy work or home schedule or do not have child care. My goal is to ensure that No Excuses motto can actually be achievable.
With baby number 2 on the way, I understand obstacles, I am here to make it work for everyone who wants to make it work.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not a smooth road, COVID was definitely a major set back in the industry. I was let go from a very big name gym without any notice. My hours in the beginning were so crazy because I was working in the corporate world where I also traveled quite a bit. Most days started at 3:30am and I would finish with my last client at 7 pm. It was exhausting! With very little pay to be honest.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I guess my first response was way too detailed so I apologize there!
Something else I am definitely proud of is having the option for moms to come workout with their baby right there. Need to nurse? No problem. Baby is fussy? Hold your baby, they are not your personal weight. It is great bonding while still getting your workout in and taking the stress off.
This is the same for my virtual clients. For many it is not feasible to get to a gym. Sometimes this is due to work but other times it confidence or childcare. A program they can do from home, with whatever equipment they have is what I am here for, Recently I made a program from a client traveling in a camper. Health, fitness, nutrition, it is a lifestyle and I am here to prove that to any one struggling to make it work.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Versatility and genuine care. Everyone deserves to feel good and achieve the healthy lifestyle they want regardless of the obstacles life has thrown. It also pains me when I hear the stigma of getting fit for the “perfect”, “bikini”, “revenge”, enter whatever word here body. Some people want to gain weight, not lose it. Some people just want to be able to walk from the parking lot to the grocery store without fear of falling down. Again, I have all walks of life and I am here to make it work for anyone who is willing to try.
