Exploring Life & Business with Sue Krasny of Sea Grape Gallery

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sue Krasny.

Hi Sue, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Art was always a part of me. I would paint, draw, make clay animals, doodle instead of taking class notes!

Once I realized that a formal art education was not for me, I studied business and embarked on a
a long and varied career in telecommunications.

Upon retirement, I began studying art
seriously, which led to workshops in a variety of interesting places with excellent instructors..

Painting became my obsession.. I entered many art exhibits and I have
been a long time member of Sea Grape Gallery, a co-op gallery in Punta Gorda., Florida.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A major obstacle was Hurricane Charley.
We lost our home and had to deal with
putting our lives back together.. It took 2 years.

I could not paint during that time. I realized that painting is an expression of
my soul. It is what I am about.

During different times of my life, when I was up against a significant obstacle,
I saw the same impact on my art.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Sea Grape Gallery ?
We are a co-op gallery that has been in
business for 37 years. Our success has been, not only the variety of art,, but
also the ability of each artist to understand, sell and celebrate the work of the other member artists.

We look forward to our customer visits
and enjoy showing them our latest creations.

Unique local art is our specialty. . Many of our artists teach at the local art center.
and are award winners .in major exhibits.

We are the gallery owners., with a board of directors and monthly member meetings. Each member is responsible for an area of the business. There are no paid employees.

Giving back to the community is important to us.. We support a local charity each year, as well as providing several scholarships to local high school students.

How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The gallery environment creates the perfect setting for discussing
our art with each other. Due to our creative nature, suggestions and ideas
Flow naturally.
