Hi Samantha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve always had a passion for exploring new places and sharing my experiences. Growing up in a small town in Pennsylvania, I dreamed of seeing the world. That dream took off during college, where I studied abroad with Semester at Sea, sailing to destinations like Japan and South Africa, and later completed my student teaching in Madrid, Spain. After graduation, I backpacked solo through Europe and taught English in Costa Rica and Peru, learning to embrace new opportunities and the stories they bring.
In 2023, I moved to St. Petersburg, Florida, drawn by its warm weather, beautiful beaches, and vibrant community. What began as a personal passion for uncovering hidden gems and connecting with the city quickly turned into a career. Today, I’m a social media content creator for Downtown St. Pete, where I share the best of what the area has to offer—from local events to unique restaurants and hidden gems. I also document my international travels on my blog, Samantha Somewhere.
My journey has been all about saying “yes” to new opportunities, and I’m so grateful to share my experiences and inspire others to explore—whether it’s a new corner of their hometown or a country across the globe.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
It definitely hasn’t been a completely smooth road, but every challenge has shaped my journey. One of the biggest struggles has been navigating uncertainty, especially in my early twenties. After college, I wasn’t sure what path I wanted to take, and figuring out how to balance my passion for travel with the need for financial stability was a constant challenge. Traveling on a tight budget taught me creativity and resilience, but it wasn’t always easy to make it work.
Another major obstacle came with starting over in new places. Whether it was moving to a different country or starting fresh in St. Pete, it can be intimidating to build a new life from scratch, find your community, and establish a career path. There were times I felt overwhelmed or unsure if I was making the right decisions, but leaning into the unknown and staying open to opportunities helped me grow and find my way.
Transitioning into content creation was also a challenge. Social media can be unpredictable, and it takes time to build a platform, learn what resonates with people, and turn a passion into a career. There were moments of self-doubt, but I stayed focused on my love for sharing stories and connecting with others, which helped me push through.
Looking back, the obstacles made me more adaptable and determined. Each challenge taught me to trust the process and embrace the journey, even when it felt uncertain.

As a social media content creator for Downtown St. Petersburg, my work revolves around showcasing the best of the area—from local events and hidden gems to unique dining experiences and outdoor activities. I specialize in storytelling through engaging posts, photos, and videos that bring the vibrant energy of St. Pete to life. I also run my own personal blog, Samantha Somewhere, where I document my international travel adventures and share tips for exploring the world on a budget.
What sets me apart is my ability to combine my love for travel and exploration with authentic, relatable content. My experiences living and traveling around the world have given me a unique perspective on finding beauty and excitement in every corner, whether it’s in my hometown or a faraway destination. Through both my professional work and personal blog, I strive to inspire others to step out of their comfort zones and experience everything life has to offer.
One of my proudest accomplishments is building a career out of something I genuinely love. Being able to share my passion for discovery, support local businesses, and connect with others through storytelling has been incredibly fulfilling. Whether it’s helping someone find a new favorite restaurant through my St. Pete content or encouraging them to plan their first international trip through my blog, knowing I’ve made a positive impact is what keeps me motivated.
