Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Castellano.
Hi Diane, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
What started as a side-hustle selling antiques led me & my husband to opening Vintage Finders Warehouse. I began refurbishing antique & vintage furniture, which has evolved into so much more. Now local customers bring me their furniture to have customized at our shop.
We are not just an antique store anymore. I am also a Dixie Belle Paint retailer & carry all the supplies for any creative DIY Project you can think up. Plus, we offer custom furniture refinishing & classes to teach you how.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
When we opened our shop 12 years ago in North Port, we had a large warehouse with many vendors. When the pandemic hit, our building was sold & we had to find a new location. It wasn’t easy to downsize, but it turned out to be a real blessing. Venice is a beautiful community that brings many types of people through our doors.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
When you walk into my shop, you can browse around for something unique or antique. You’ll probably see me working with a piece of furniture being repaired, sanded, painted or stained. I love bringing new life to old pieces, whether someone wants a flamingo-themed table or to have a family heirloom restored. There’s always something creative going on in my shop.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
Interior design trends will always change. but I think people will always love the idea of having something unique. Whether it’s a vintage piece or refinishing your old furniture instead of throwing it away. With a little creativity, you can stay on-trend while being thrifty.
