Today we’d like to introduce you to Leo Dubon.
Hi Leo, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started in real estate when I was just 18 years old. At that age, most people were still figuring out what they wanted to do — but I already knew I had a passion for helping people find homes and build wealth through real estate. What began as curiosity quickly turned into a career that I’ve dedicated my life to ever since.
As I grew in the industry, I realized that helping clients goes far beyond buying and selling. I wanted to understand every part of the process — from the structure of the home to the financing behind it. That’s why I became not only a licensed Real Estate Broker and Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO), but also a Licensed Home Inspector. This unique combination allows me to guide my clients with confidence from start to finish — finding the right property, ensuring it’s in great condition, securing the best loan, and closing smoothly.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not at all — but every challenge has shaped who I am today. I started in real estate back in 2003, when the market was booming and everyone seemed to be buying homes. Things were moving fast, and it felt like the opportunities were endless. But then came the 2008 housing market crash, and everything changed almost overnight.
That period tested everyone in the industry. Deals stopped, lenders tightened up, and a lot of good agents left the business entirely. Instead of walking away, I decided to double down on my education and my future. During that time, I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, which gave me a stronger foundation to rebuild and understand the business from a financial and strategic perspective.
Looking back, those tough years taught me resilience, adaptability, and how to build a business that can survive any market cycle. It wasn’t a smooth road — but it made me the professional I am today.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
My company, Dream Street Realty, was founded on one simple mission — to guide people through every step of the real estate journey with honesty, knowledge, and care. Over the years, I’ve expanded that mission by integrating both mortgage and home inspection services, giving clients a complete and seamless experience under one trusted brand.
I specialize in helping buyers, sellers, and investors make confident, informed decisions. What sets me apart is that I’m licensed in real estate, mortgages, and home inspections, which allows me to personally oversee the process from the first showing to closing day. My clients never have to wonder who’s handling what — I’m hands-on in every part of the transaction.
Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the reputation we’ve built for trust, transparency, and results. Dream Street Realty is known for delivering fast, reliable service without sacrificing quality or care. Whether it’s guiding a first-time homebuyer or helping a seasoned investor expand their portfolio, my focus is always on delivering clarity and peace of mind.
At the end of the day, I want readers to know that my brand represents commitment, integrity, and excellence — and that we’re here to make real estate simpler, smarter, and more personal for everyone we serve across Florida.
Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was born in Miami, raised in Little Havana, where the air was thick with music, survival, and stories that could fill a lifetime. The city was different back then — raw, electric, alive. My parents had escaped the war in Nicaragua during the 1980s, crossing borders and leaving everything they knew behind. They arrived in a city already bursting with its own storm — the Mariel boatlift had just brought thousands of Cubans from Havana to Miami. Some came chasing freedom, others running from chaos. The streets were flooded with dreamers, hustlers, and survivors.
That was the world I grew up in. A place where danger and opportunity lived side by side. You could hear salsa from one block, sirens from the next. The men played dominoes on corners while mothers worked double shifts to keep food on the table. It was gritty, but it was beautiful — because it was real.
In that heat, I learned what resilience meant. My parents didn’t have a safety net — just faith, grit, and each other. Watching them build from nothing taught me that struggle isn’t something to run from; it’s the fire that forges you. I was curious, restless, and hungry to understand the world. I wanted to know how things worked, how people built something from nothing, how you could turn survival into success.
Little Havana wasn’t just my neighborhood — it was my classroom. It taught me rhythm, courage, and respect. It taught me that no one hands you anything — you earn it, step by step, deal by deal, day by day. That foundation still fuels everything I do. Every decision, every risk, every win — it all traces back to that little neighborhood in Miami where my story began.
