Rising Stars: Meet Fabio Dal Boni of Downtown Sarasota, FL

Today we’d like to introduce you to Fabio Dal Boni.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m Fabio Dal Boni the in-residence artist at AlexArt International Art Gallery. This year, the gallery is celebrating a big milestone: 10 years of amazing activity and growth! Its story, as a gallery, intertwines with that of the Dal Bonis, the Italian family who built it in 2015 where the Golden Apple Dinner Theater once used to be. It quickly became a new must see art destination in Florida.
The gallery bears the name of my wife Alexa Scanziani — a Harvard graduate, a New York Times international reporter and art connoisseur.
From a market search, Sarasota appeared a Top 5 Small City for Art in the States. Moreover, the location next to the Sarasota Opera House seemed ideal for the high level of culture and refined taste for fine art.
At the time, the Dal Boni’s had moved from Milan, Italy to the States. It was a time of big projects but also of big worries as I suffered a massive heart attack on December 22nd, 2015.
When I recovered, I went on a quest to find those supernatural colors I had seen in my Near Death Experience. I wanted to find the right medium to reproduce them. In 2017, after multiple attempts, I discovered that by using special inks and treating aluminum at very high temperatures, I could paint the most vibrant and beautiful Floridian scenes and of the places I visited. Collectors consider my art a mix between new pop art and hyperrealism, and have prized me with a great positive response.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It was a very positive experience.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My art is a mix between new pop art and fine art and results from my continuous quest to find those supernatural colors that I perceives when looking at the world. A mix of dancing creatures of light in red, green, and blue; magnificent colors always changing, always moving and sparkling as if they had a life of their own.

It is hyperrealism realized on aluminum and it takes on a magical luminescence and an incredible 3-D effect with stunning details.

My personal experiences transpire in the vibrant paintings infused into the metal.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
I love my current location. I think it will become even better with all the towers that are building downtown.
