Let’s jump in with a fun one: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
For me, integrity is the most important because that’s what everything else builds on. I can be the smartest photographer and have all the energy in the world, but if I don’t keep my word to clients or if I’m not honest about my pricing, none of that matters. My Christian faith teaches me that integrity isn’t just good business—it’s who I’m called to be. When couples trust me with their wedding day or families invite me to capture their precious moments, they’re not just hiring my camera skills; they’re trusting my character. That trust comes from doing what I say I’ll do, being upfront about costs, showing up on time, and treating their special moments with the respect they deserve. At the end of the day, my integrity is what turns clients into friends who refer their family and friends to me, and that’s how I’ve built JCenteno Photography.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hey there! I’m Jafet Centeno, and I’m the guy behind JCenteno Photography LLC here in Tampa, Florida. My journey into photography started back in 2015 when I was living in Puerto Rico, and honestly, it began in the most personal way possible—I bought a professional camera to capture my wife’s maternity journey when she got pregnant. What started as wanting to document our growing family turned into discovering that photography was this perfect blend of my two biggest passions: technology and art.
I moved to Florida in 2017 with my family, and after working in the IT field for 16 years, I officially launched my photography business in 2022. Now I specialize in weddings, events, portraits, and lifestyle photography, serving couples and families throughout the Tampa Bay area, including Spring Hill, Brooksville, and surrounding Central Florida counties. What makes JCenteno Photography unique is that I bring both my technical IT background and my artistic heart to every shoot—I’m known for my attention to detail, professionalism, and high-quality editing techniques that make my final products really stand out.
My Christian faith is at the core of everything I do, and it shows in how I treat my clients and approach their most precious moments. Whether it’s a quinceañera, a wedding day, or a family portrait session, I believe in creating genuine connections with my clients so their personality and vision shine through in every photo. I’ve built my business primarily through word-of-mouth referrals because when people trust you with their special moments and you deliver something they love, they become your biggest advocates. Right now I’m working on growing my online presence, building stronger community connections, and expanding my reach while staying true to the personalized, faith-driven approach that’s made my clients feel like family.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
My relationship with God has shaped me more than anything—He’s been my anchor, guiding my values and giving me the courage to build this business on honesty and love. Right behind that is my wife, whose unwavering support, encouragement, and belief in me have helped me grow both personally and professionally.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d tell my younger self, “You are more capable and valued than you think—don’t let self-doubt stop you from chasing your dreams.”

“You need the latest, most expensive gear to take great photos.”
While good equipment helps, creativity, vision, and mastering your fundamentals matter far more than the newest camera body.
“Social media fame translates to real bookings.”
Likes don’t guarantee leads; genuine relationships, referrals, and trust-building still drive most photography businesses.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely. I believe in giving my very best whether anyone notices or not, because every shot matters—each photo is someone’s memory, and I’d feel shortchanging them if I ever held back. My motivation comes from knowing I honored their trust and served them well, not from applause.
