Hi Marcus, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Hi Marcus Ehrenpreis started SWFL Easy Moving Solutions about half a decade ago. Back when I was just turning 22 years of age I had invested my savings into our first 26-ft yellow box truck.
Most moving companies don’t start with a box truck. Typically they begin renting from a truck rental company. This is because initially I purchased the box truck to convert into a tiny home. Although after some surprise repairs we pivoted into home moving. We still use that box truck to this day. And it has allowed us to have a competitive advantage over our local competition with pricing. And we have expanded into into multiple work vehicles including other box trucks.
You do need to have the tools to do the job. Moving as a profession is a lot more technical than people understand.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Well like any business I believe most employers would agree that labor is one of the most time consuming elements to production. You have to have a good team that you can rely on. You must be able to judge someone’s character very quickly. That goes for understanding the type of client you are working with.
Moving isn’t as simple as you pick help heavy thing and you put heavy thing down. There’s a lot of communication. And I believe I have my Master’s in communication at this point.
When moving an entire home you want to have a full team, and under a circumstance where someone is unable to arrive you typically want to have a backup plan.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
In our operation we have maintained a 5.0 reputation across the web. When moving an entire home there is so much that can go right and wrong. Our men are professionally trained and specialized in assembly and disassembly of just about anything you own.
We’re faster than our competition because we use new technology such as heavy duty moving bands. These oversized rubber bands Snap-on and snap off your furniture covered moving blankets. What would take EACH ITEM 5-10 minutes to plastic wrap only takes about 60 sec or less to secure. The end result… A significantly faster move, saving up to a few hours! And we pass those savings on to you for our hourly rate clients. We’re also saving the environment. A big ball of plastic trash is entirely unnecessary for every single move.
We figure with the with best reputation in Southwest Florida better service will lead more clients referrals and we can all be happy with a fatter wallet. Unlike other companies who love to drag out the move and “milk the clock”. But in their defense they are not up to date with new technology like we are at SWFL Easy Moving Solutions. We can’t expect them to be as efficient as we are.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
When it comes to taking risks you have to be willing to look before you jump. And then sometimes you just have to close your eyes and take the risk.
When it comes to advertising there’s actually a lot of risk that’s involved. I know that we decided to put up a billboard for about 6 months thinking it was going to bring in a ton of business when in reality we only got about 2 calls for mowing lawns not moving.
We’ve also had successful advertising using different lead providing services. When you’re signing up and putting down hundreds of dollars you’re hoping it’s going to come back to yourself and multiply as profit. For us it does.
Typically speaking to expand the business you have to be willing to spend more money on Advertising. (Not always but typically speaking.)
When you know this is something that you must do but you’re not mentally ready to put down that money as a risk. You really do have to just close your eyes and do it. Stop thinking about what could happen. And just do it
You’ll figure what works and what doesn’t as time goes on but you have to be willing to get out of your head and just do things and take action.
