Meet Caleb Strutz of Winter Haven

Today we’d like to introduce you to Caleb Strutz.

Hi Caleb, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
This May, I graduated from seminary and received the assignment to serve Our Savior Lutheran Church in Lakeland and Resurrection Lutheran Church in Winter Haven. I was ordained and installed as pastor at these two congregations in June. Since then, I have been settling in and getting to know the members and our community. I’m excited to serve the people of Lakeland and Winter Haven with the good news that all of our sins are forgiven through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Transitions are always a struggle, especially when it involves moving across the country with little kids! But we have received tons of support from the members of both congregations, for which we are very grateful.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We are a confessional Lutheran church, which is distinguished from others by our steadfast hold to the truths of Scripture and our emphasis on the Sacraments (Baptism and the Lord’s Supper), the concrete, physical ways in which God bestows and conveys forgiveness to us. While Lutherans are often unknown and overlooked, we have a lot to offer, since everything we believe is from Scripture.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I like that there is a real sense of community, with plenty of events and fun opportunities. I dislike the traffic!
