Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Andrea Gleim.
Hi Dr. Andrea , so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’m a proud Latina of Salvadoran and Puerto Rican descent and the first in my family to graduate from college. My story began with the inspiration of my grandmother, who boldly opened a bakery in her 60s and still runs it at the age of 90. She taught me resilience and showed me that it’s never too late to rewrite your story and I’ve carried that lesson with me every step of the way.
I originally thought I would become a medical doctor, but psychology captured my heart when I realized so much of what holds us back isn’t physical. It’s psychological, emotional, cultural, and rooted in the stories we’ve absorbed. After more than a decade of study and practice, I launched Mindfully Mine Counseling Center, became an adjunct professor, and later expanded into coaching and speaking. Now, I help people move from autopilot to authentic alignment in their lives and leadership. It’s been a winding road, but one filled with purpose, and I feel like I’m only just getting started.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Definitely not smooth, but full of lessons. In just a few short years, I moved cities, got married, had a child, bought a house, and redefined what I wanted to do with my career. At the same time, my husband lost his job while I was pregnant, and my father suffered a stroke in New Jersey. It was one of those seasons where life felt like a whirlwind, and the only choice was to keep putting one foot in front of the other.
I like to say I’ve become an expert lemonade-maker, turning life’s lemons into something that fuels me instead of stopping me. The bumps along the road have shaped my perspective in a way that textbooks never could. Those moments taught me resilience, empathy, and patience with myself. And while the ride was bumpy, it gave me the courage to help others through their own twists and turns.
As you know, we’re big fans of Mindfully Mine Counseling Center . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m the founder of Mindfully Mine Counseling Center, and today my work blends psychology, mindfulness, and cultural identity to help high achievers lead with authenticity. I specialize in helping people navigate burnout, career reinvention, and identity transitions, whether that’s a new mom learning how to balance it all, an athlete finding purpose after sports, or a first-gen entrepreneur finding confidence in their own voice.
What makes my work unique is my perspective. As a bilingual Latina psychologist, I come from a community where mental health hasn’t always been openly discussed, so creating safe, inclusive spaces matters deeply to me. Being self-made and building a business I love while still leaning on the emotional support of my family is one of my proudest accomplishments. I want readers to know that my services aren’t just about fixing problems; they’re about creating sustainable joy, resilience, and confidence. If I can help people feel whole in both their personal and professional lives, then I know I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.
Is there a quality that you most attribute to your success?
The quality that has been most important to my success is resilience, rooted in authenticity. As a first-generation college graduate and proud Latina of Salvadoran and Puerto Rican descent, I learned early on how to navigate unfamiliar systems, push through doubt, and keep moving forward even when the path wasn’t clear. But resilience on its own isn’t enough, it has to be paired with authenticity. I’ve built my career around helping others, especially women and minorities, succeed without shrinking or code-switching. By staying grounded in who I am and leading from that place, I’ve been able to build not just success, but success that feels like mine.
