We recently had the chance to connect with Ashley Humphrey and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: Who are you learning from right now?
Life, I am learning from life right now. I am a student in my own class room and every situation, moment, and person that I meet are my professors.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Ashley and I am the owner of Pop Up Parties by Ashley. I do mostly balloon decorations but, also offer luxury picnics and custom designed themes/branding for events. I opened up in 2020 and in 2024 I decided to take a break from my business to focus on my personal life. I relaunched my business this month and have been rebuilding an even stronger network than before. I love to collab and brainstorm with other creatives so if you are in a similar industry, I would love to hear from you!
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child and well into my adulthood, I believed that I wasn’t worthy of having a good life. I had some traumatic memories as a child that shaped the way I seen myself and the way I viewed others. I now know & believe I am worthy and deserving. I am living the exact life that I dreamed of having when I was a child. I am now the type of parent that I used to wish that I had. Every day I wake up feeling loved and blessed and I pass that same love to others.
What did suffering teach you that success never could?
Suffering taught me how to survive. I remember how if felt to be in survival mode all the time and I remember how it felt when I lost everything and had to work to get it back. Those memories are what keeps me working to have the level of success that I have and to always want more.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Whom do you admire for their character, not their power?
My husband. He has the biggest heart and is so gentle with our children and I. He is truly one of the best human beings that I know. He is successful at everything that he does. He doesn’t give up when he is facing a challenge and when he says he is going to do something, he does it.
Okay, we’ve made it essentially to the end. One last question before you go. Could you give everything your best, even if no one ever praised you for it?
Absolutely! I am a perfectionist to the core. I have to give my best to everything that I do. As ironic as it may sound, I actually shy away from the praise. When people tell me its great, I always believe I can do better so, it wouldn’t make a difference if my accomplishments didn’t come with the applause.
