Kristen Molinaro of Brandon on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Kristen Molinaro and have shared our conversation below.

Kristen, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
If I’m not teaching the 6:15am, I usually start my day with a run. I always take a few minutes to meditate, then make breakfast and move through some of my own personal yoga practice. I work on things for the studio, head in to the studio later, and do whatever needs to get done there. At night, I wind down by watching the Phillies.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Kristen Molinaro, owner of Keystone Yoga. I created the studio to build a strong, welcoming community where people can come as they are and feel supported. For me, yoga is about connection, not only to your body but to yourself and others. When I started my own personal practice I felt this new sense of self that I want others to be able to experience. That’s what makes Keystone different. Right now, we’re always focused on growing that sense of belonging and creating a space where everyone feels welcome and empowered.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
Perfectionism. You’re allowed to be who you are without worrying about what others thoughts are and if it’s good enough for them.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
The first year of owning Keystone was really challenging. There were many mornings that I wondered if it was worth it or if I was in over my head. I kept going because I saw the community starting and knew the yoga we offer was already starting to impact the Brandon area.

Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? Is the public version of you the real you?
The public version of me is real. Yoga has taught me a lot about authenticity and accepting myself fully. So yes, I show up as myself

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I don’t have an answer for that. I believe peace is a choice we make. I can find peace in many places, because I first found it on my yoga mat.
