An Inspired Chat with Amanda Dlouhy Bailey of Brooksville

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Amanda Dlouhy Bailey. Check out our conversation below.

Amanda , we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
We take some time off in the summer so lately we have been enjoying the beautiful nature coast of Florida. Fishing, scalloping and boating. It’s truly a joy to make memories with my husband Branden and our two sons Finnigan and Jennings. We love to go on education adventures and always are learning something new.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
We do special events and weddings at The White Barn Venue. We are featured and recognized amongst the top 5% of wedding professionals nationwide. I’m the lead floral designer and curator at The White Barn Flower House. I exclusively work with our White Barn couples to ensure a wedding where floral dreams come to life. I find the beauty and bring it in with our curated florals. I get to work everyday with my husband Branden and he is truly the backbone of every single behind the scenes that make The White Barn run as smoothly as it does. He is the most persistent person I have ever met. We do all the projects on the property together as a family.

Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. Who taught you the most about work?
Both of my parents, Michael and Linda instilled in me at such a young age, the strength and resilience and a strong work ethic. I wore through multiple pairs of leather gloves when I was younger and still to this day do. I learned the power that comes with discipline and determination. You don’t drink the water if you don’t dig the well. It truly is a privilege to be tired from the work I once prayed for. A privilege to feel overwhelmed by growth I used to dream about. A privilege to be challenged by a life created on purpose. A privilege to outgrow things I used to settle for.

Do you remember a time someone truly listened to you?
Growing up my parents always listened to what I had to say, they valued my thoughts and opinions and if I had an idea or a dream about something, they never discouraged me. They never told me “No you can’t do it!” They found a way to make it happen no matter what. Still to this day, they find a way. I have to also shine a light on my Gram Lucille, she was a pivotal force and huge part of why The White Barn is in existence. Another true example of perseverance and determination.
I met my husband Branden in 2006 and he has the same quality. No matter what idea I have or dream I dream he never discourages me. He calls me a power house, and that’s how we came up with the name for The White Barn Flower House.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What important truth do very few people agree with you on?
You can have faith and be scared at the same time. Stepping out on faith gives Jesus the opportunity to show up. Life is strange. You arrive with nothing, spend your whole life chasing everything, and still leave with nothing. Make sure your soul gains more than your hands. Keep in mind there’s a clock ticking that we can’t see. Love whoever loves you and enjoy life.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That what we built with The White Barn has created a legacy not only for our family, but every family that gets married here. That I was genuine, honest, caring, kind and helped and treated people honorably.
That I truly was a great wife, mom, daughter and friend. That I showed at least one person the road to Jesus. We’re all one heartbeat away. We’re called to be like Jesus to the people around us. That’s the only way the world will ever experience Gods love.
