Story & Lesson Highlights with Jasper Klein of Clearwater

Jasper Klein shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Jasper, we’re thrilled to have you with us today. Before we jump into your intro and the heart of the interview, let’s start with a bit of an ice breaker: Who are you learning from right now?
Right now, I’m learning from two places that inspire me every day. First, my new partners in the taxi industry, they bring over 40 years of experience and have built something truly remarkable. Watching how they approach challenges, lead with consistency, and keep their teams motivated has been eye-opening.

At the same time, I’m learning just as much from my own team. What I value most is the trust we’ve built together, enough that they can give me honest feedback, even when it’s uncomfortable. Sometimes the challenges we face are actually problems I’ve created, and having people around me who can tell me that directly is invaluable. It may take me a little time to process, but those moments of truth are where the real growth happens. I’ve come to realize that leadership isn’t about having all the answers, it’s about surrounding yourself with people who help you see what you can’t always see yourself.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Jasper Klein, an entrepreneur and community builder based in Clearwater. Over the past decade, I’ve started and grown a few businesses that have been recognized with awards for both entrepreneurship and community impact, which is something I’m really proud of.

But at the core, what drives me isn’t just the business side, it’s the people. I love creating opportunities, connecting with others, and being part of projects that make life better for our community. Whether it’s through transportation, marketing, or mentoring others who are just getting started, I see my work as a way to give back while continuing to grow myself.

Outside of business, I’m just as passionate about living fully, staying active, and surrounding myself with people who inspire me. I think readers should know right away that while entrepreneurship is a big part of my identity, my real focus is on building a life rooted in purpose, relationships, and community.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
I’ve learned that love and hard work are the greatest substitutes for money. I’ve always been someone who could make something out of nothing, and a lot of that comes from the example set by my parents. Both of them come from entrepreneurial backgrounds, and while there were plenty of times when money was short, love and support were never in question.

That shaped how I see the world: challenges aren’t roadblocks, they’re opportunities to apply persistence and creativity. I really believe that with the right mindset and enough determination, almost anything can be overcome. The stability and encouragement I had at home gave me the courage to take risks, to fail and try again, and to keep moving forward. At the end of the day, what matters most isn’t the resources you start with, but the resourcefulness, resilience, and relationships you build along the way.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutel, there have been many points along the way where giving up seemed like the easiest option. Entrepreneurship isn’t a straight line, and I’ve faced setbacks that were big enough to make me question everything. There were times when the money wasn’t there, the stress was overwhelming, and it felt like no matter how hard I worked, I was just spinning my wheels.

One thing I’ve learned, though, is that those low moments are where the real growth happens. Every time I thought about walking away, I reminded myself of why I started and the people who believed in me. That combination of persistence and support always carried me through.

Looking back, I’m glad I didn’t quit, because each of those experiences became fuel for the next stage of growth. They taught me resilience, patience, and the importance of keeping a forward-thinking mindset. Now, when I hit tough moments, I don’t see them as reasons to give up, I see them as signs that I’m about to break through to the next level.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. Where are smart people getting it totally wrong today?
I think a lot of smart people today are getting it wrong by overvaluing quick wins and undervaluing persistence. We live in a culture that celebrates instant success, the viral moment, the overnight millionaire, the easy shortcut. But in reality, the most meaningful growth comes from showing up every day, even when nobody’s watching, and doing the hard, often unglamorous work.

Another place I see people slip is in thinking they have to have all the answers themselves. I’ve learned that the smartest thing you can do is surround yourself with people you trust, listen to feedback, even when it stings, and be willing to adapt. Ego is a dangerous thing in business and in life.

To me, it’s not about being the smartest person in the room, it’s about being the most resourceful, resilient, and forward-thinking. Smart people sometimes miss that you don’t need perfect conditions to create something valuable. You can start with very little, but if you’ve got persistence, creativity, and the right people around you, you can build something great.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: What do you understand deeply that most people don’t?
What I understand deeply is that everything comes down to your willingness to put in the work, set the excuses aside, and focus on the bigger picture. Most people get stuck on why something can’t be done, but I’ve learned the real key is asking, ‘How can we make this work?’
I always say, there are no problems, only solutions. Once you start seeing the world that way, setbacks stop feeling like roadblocks, they just become detours that still lead you forward
