Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Dr. Sana Yusuf of Wesley Chapel

Dr. Sana Yusuf shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Good morning Sana, we’re so happy to have you here with us and we’d love to explore your story and how you think about life and legacy and so much more. So let’s start with a question we often ask: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
Integrity, without question. It’s something that was ingrained in me during my time in the military—do the right thing even when no one’s watching. That principle carries into every part of my life and career. In dentistry, patients often have no way of knowing the difference between an average job and an exceptional one. They can’t see a perfectly sealed crown margin on an X-ray or confirm if a cavity truly needs treatment. That’s where integrity matters most. My promise is simple: I’ll recommend and deliver the same care I would for my own family—nothing more, nothing less—because trust is everything.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, I’m Dr. Sana Yusuf, and I wear a few hats—dentist, mama, wife, and business owner. I run Sana Dental Studio + Med Spa in Wesley Chapel, Tampa’s first boutique dental office and full-service med spa under one roof. We’re a little different because we blend health, function, and aesthetics. Whether it’s creating a confident smile, treating TMJ issues, or helping someone feel their best with non-surgical cosmetic treatments, our focus is always on prevention and long-term results.

What makes our brand unique is that we don’t just “fix teeth” or “do Botox”—we look at the whole person. My military background taught me discipline and integrity, and that’s the foundation of everything we do. Patients trust us because we treat them like family: clear, honest recommendations and the same quality care I’d want for my own loved ones. Right now, we’re growing fast, refining our systems, and working on exciting new offerings—like expanding airway-focused therapies and incorporating laser dentistry.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who were you before the world told you who you had to be?
Honestly, I was a carefree, super silly little girl. Life experiences have toughened me—I’m more protective of myself and my family now—but that silly side is still very much alive. People who know me know I love my goofy jokes and can always find a way to make someone laugh. Humor’s my superpower; it’s how I handle the hard stuff, too. The world told me to be serious, to hustle, to be “put together,” but I’ve learned you can do all of that and still keep that lighthearted little girl shining through.

When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
It probably started when I realized hiding pain only made it heavier. Somewhere along the way—between the military, motherhood, and building a business—I learned that pain can be fuel if you let it. I stopped trying to pretend everything was fine and started using those hard moments to push me forward, to connect with people, and to lead with empathy and strength.

Alright, so if you are open to it, let’s explore some philosophical questions that touch on your values and worldview. Is the public version of you the real you?
Honestly, the public version of me looks super outgoing and confident, so people assume that’s who I am—but that’s just the outside. My favorite version of me is at home: hair up in a messy “anxiety bun” (as my daughter calls it, straight out of Inside Out 2), fuzzy socks, tea in hand, doing diamond art and watching a show in my comfiest clothes. That’s where I really recharge.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
I think my patients would miss my honesty. I’m very candid and straightforward—I tell it like it is, but always with their best interest at heart. People appreciate knowing they can trust me to be real with them, or at least I think they do haha
