Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Savii Bands of Tampa

We recently had the chance to connect with Savii Bands and have shared our conversation below.

Savii, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is a normal day like for you right now?
A normal day for Savii right now is wake up, have a tea or coffee, tend to my daughter & family, and immediately get to creating shortly after. Savii is currently working on his debut album titled ISOLATION so day in day out always working on new melodies and ways to make it that much better.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Matthew Shereef Smith better known as SAVII BANDS was born on July 29,1996, in Dunedin Fl to a Caucasian mother and an African American father. He spent his childhood in Tampa. Savii is a music artist whom resides in the hip hop / pop industry amongst other inspiring artist such as The Kid Laroi, Post Malone, Dro Kenji, Trippie Redd… the list goes on. Savii is aiming to be one of the best to ever do it in the music industry and has collaborated with multiple artist from different countries. Recently, released a track titled “ Too Late “ which featured superstar artist 24hrs who is known for the UCLA club dub track.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
When my mom told me that I had something going for myself with this singing gig and I actually believed it. 8 years later here I am well noticed all around where I grew up and around the world, which is living proof of how powerful you can be as long as you put your mind to it. Many times I gave up but every years just kept getting bigger and the shows kept getting bigger along with the entertainment checks and that’s when I knew okay yeah I figured it out.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
I gave up multiple times during my career however due to circumstances and not being able to afford my lifestyle when it came to music. I was pouring into music so much that life was catching up to me quick so I had to choose one and at that time music was not doing it for me so I decided to revisit at a later time. Glad I did because I told myself and my best friend at the time that i actually could do it I just need to focus and stay consistent. Then the number 1 song in the city all over the radio came my life changed forever. Moral of the story it’s okay to give up so you know what it feels like to fail once you know what it’s like to fail at something you really are good at you’ll no longer fail again.

Sure, so let’s go deeper into your values and how you think. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
Honestly, my daughter and my family without them wouldn’t be who I am today or half of the artist I am today and I am thankful for that because they always push me to go harder and think larger when I’m in the studio. That’s who I do it for and of course they would say making music aha.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What do you think people will most misunderstand about your legacy?
What it took to get where Im at today. There’s so many bumps in the road along the way that could’ve led to so many distractions and I still got in the studio and did what god put me in earth to do and that’s create albums on albums and
Hit singles for you guys because good music brings good people together and everyone loves a good Savii track.
