We’re looking forward to introducing you to Kelly Kennedy. Check out our conversation below.
Kelly, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I love decorating and DIYing my home. I recently crafted a built-in desk and shelving in my office. I challenged myself as I have never done this type of skill and really, really, really enjoyed it. It’s a good escape from the everyday hustle and bustle of being a business owner, planner, Mom and wife.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
A proud Florida native, born and raised in Manatee County, my love for weddings began at just 19 years old when I had the honor of helping plan my older brother’s wedding. That experience sparked a lifelong passion for events and laid the foundation for what would become my career.
I earned my degree in Hospitality Management with a specialization in Event Management from the University of Florida — Go Gators! From there, I spent several years working at an upscale country club, which gave me invaluable experience and a deep understanding of luxury service and high-level event execution.
Today, our planning approach is both strategic and thoughtful. We know our couples are busy, so we’ve developed streamlined processes to make planning as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. While organization is key, our love for design shines through in every event — we’re passionate about creating weddings that are beautiful, personalized, and unforgettable.
At the heart of everything we do is service. Planning is our profession, but serving couples is our purpose. We are dedicated to delivering exceptional experiences not just for our clients, but for everyone we encounter throughout the journey.
Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. What was your earliest memory of feeling powerful?
Before I started my own business, a lifelong friend encouraged me to take a leap of faith — they believed in me even when I doubted myself. I remember the exact moment I decided to go for it. It felt terrifying, but also incredibly freeing. Once I booked my first weddings and saw the organic growth that followed, I felt this incredible sense of power — not just in building something of my own, but in realizing that I could. That moment was a turning point for me, and it still fuels my confidence today.
Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
Absolutely. Right after the pandemic, our calendar was packed — everyone was ready to celebrate again, and we were slammed with events. At the same time, one of my key team members left. I remember feeling overwhelmed and stretched thin, unsure of how I was going to manage everything on my own. In that season, I lost a bit of the joy that had always driven my work. It was one of the hardest times in my career — but instead of giving up, I took a breath, realigned my priorities, rebuilt my team, and found my passion again.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? What are the biggest lies your industry tells itself?
That the only way to be successful is to completely book out your calendar. There’s this unspoken pressure in the wedding industry to take on as many events as possible — to equate being “fully booked” with having “made it.” But the truth is, real success comes from creating meaningful, high-quality experiences, not burning out from quantity. I’ve learned that protecting your time, setting boundaries, and being intentional with the clients you serve leads to a more fulfilling business — and a better life.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I was a genuine person who truly loved what I did. That I treated others with kindness and respect, no matter their role or title. I want to be remembered as a leader who poured into her team and inspired others to chase their own dreams — especially those who were scared to take that first step. More than anything, I hope my story encourages someone else to believe in themselves.
