Regina Richardson of Tampa on Life, Lessons & Legacy

We recently had the chance to connect with Regina Richardson and have shared our conversation below.

Regina, a huge thanks to you for investing the time to share your wisdom with those who are seeking it. We think it’s so important for us to share stories with our neighbors, friends and community because knowledge multiples when we share with each other. Let’s jump in: What do you think is misunderstood about your business?
Many couples assume that because their dog is well behaved or familiar with them, their dog will naturally be calm, obedient, and cooperative on their wedding day and don’t need a Wedding Day Pet Care company. But weddings are high stress, overstimulating environments, and some dogs are extremely sensitive to that energy. Dogs can become overwhelmed by crowds, loud music, and unfamiliar scents. They may be confused when their owners are busy and not giving them attention and the couple can end up stressed, trying to juggle pet care with wedding logistics.

Another HUGE misunderstanding is couples will say: “A friend or family member can just handle it.”
Wrong- unless that person is 100% dedicated to your dog all day, which often they are busy with wedding activities, this can often lead to miscommunications or your dog being forgotten in the chaos of wedding activities.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I grew up in a small town just outside of New York City, where my love for animals started early, bringing home strays and begging my mom to let me keep them. That compassion turned into a lifelong commitment. I’ve been a proud advocate for adoption and regularly volunteer at local animal shelters to give back to the pet community that shaped me.

After college, I moved to Tampa to pursue a career in Public Relations. It wasn’t long before I adopted a dog from a local shelter whose unconditional love reminded me of where my true passion lies, working with animals.

I always dreamed of having my dogs by my side on my wedding day, but I didn’t want to burden friends or family with the responsibility on such an important day. That’s when I realized there was a real gap in the wedding industry: couples wanted their pets involved, but there weren’t professional services to make it happen seamlessly. So I took a leap, left my job, and launched Furry Ventures Pet Care.

What makes Furry Ventures Pet Care truly unique is our ability to combine professional event coordination skills with deep animal care expertise. We’re not just pet lovers, we’re a wedding-savvy, detail-oriented team that understands the flow of a wedding day and the emotional bond between you and your pet. Whether it’s chauffeuring your pup to the venue, coordinating their big “walk down the aisle,” or making sure they’re stress-free and happy throughout the day. We take care of everything so your loved ones can enjoy the moment, and your pet can be part of it.

Furry Ventures Pet Care has now grown to serve couples all across Florida, and we’ve helped hundreds of pets be part of the most memorable moments of their humans’ lives. Whether it’s your wedding day or your everyday, we’re here to make pet care stress-free, joyful, and personalized.

Appreciate your sharing that. Let’s talk about your life, growing up and some of topics and learnings around that. Who taught you the most about work?
Both my parents and grandparents taught me the most about work. Growing up, I watched them dedicate themselves fully to whatever they did, whether it was providing for their families, running a household, or building something from the ground up. Their work ethic wasn’t just about long hours, it was about pride, resilience, and showing up no matter what. Seeing their commitment firsthand shaped how I approach everything I do today, and it’s a big part of why I value dedication, reliability, and passion in my own work.

If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
Never give up on your dream, no matter how rough the road gets. It will all work out exactly the way it’s meant to. The challenges will make you stronger, the setbacks will teach you patience, and one day, you’ll look back and realize that every step brought you closer to the life you always imagined.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
If I had to guess, they would probably say something along the lines of this…

“She’s one of the most passionate, hardworking people I know. She pours her heart into everything she does, whether it’s growing her company, caring for animals, or showing up as the incredible mom she is. She somehow manages to balance it all with grace, love, and a kind of dedication that inspires everyone around her. You can see how much she loves what she does, and how deeply she cares, not just about her business, but about the people and pets in her life. She’s the kind of person who gives 110% to everything, and never loses sight of what really matters.”

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: If you retired tomorrow, what would your customers miss most?
If I retired tomorrow, I think my clients would miss the genuine love and care I give to their pets, and the trust and peace of mind that comes with it. They’d miss my calming presence on their big day, the personal touches that make every experience feel special, and the passion and dedication I bring to everything I do. Most of all, they’d miss knowing their pets are in the hands of someone who truly treats them like family.
