Azai shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Azai, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: Have any recent moments made you laugh or feel proud?
A recent moment that made me feel proud and grateful as well was when I had the privilege to perform at the Puerto Rican day parade in NYC. Was easily over a million people there, it was incredible and an amazing moment to bring family with me to see as well.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I am a Latin/Pop artist named Azai. I also do things such as modeling and acting. Music is something that has been in me since a child that I continue to grow in and build upon in my craft. I am a believer in constantly putting good out into the world knowing one day that good will find its way back to you, as well as stay consistent and being a good person will always be key attributes in being successful in anything that you do.
Okay, so here’s a deep one: What did you believe about yourself as a child that you no longer believe?
As a child I felt I wasn’t good enough. But through growth, healing and therapy I’ve learned that was a lie and that I am more than good enough.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
The way others treat you have nothing to do in how valuable you are. You are valuable regardless of external validation. The love you crave so much starts with yourself. You are the most important person who can give an opinion on yourself.
So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
I would say it’s a more enhanced version of me. I am always myself but the version of me in the public sphere is one that has some more gasoline on it amplifying my personality etc especially when it comes to things such as performances and interviews and what not.
Okay, so before we go, let’s tackle one more area. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
That I lived according to what I felt was right, that I was someone who took chances and went after the things I desired and leaned into my fears instead of running from them. But also I love hard, I always give from a pure place and do my best to treat those I encounter with respect.
