We’re looking forward to introducing you to junior rodriguez. Check out our conversation below.
Hi junior, thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
To me, integrity is the most important. Intelligence and energy are valuable, but without integrity, they can be misused or even harmful. I believe that trust is the foundation of effective teams and long-term success, and that starts with doing the right thing—even when it’s hard or when no one is watching. With integrity in place, intelligence and energy can really thrive in the right direction.”
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Junior Rodriguez, better known in the entertainment world as JRod or Young Weppa. I’m a music producer, writer, visual producer, film director, manager, executive producer, radio host, and YouTuber.
I have my own visual film company called Directed By JRod, which was founded in 2020. I also have my YouTube channel Dale Play TV, where I interview new and established artists.I’ve been working in audiovisuals and YouTube since 2020, but I’ve been working in the world of entertainment and music for 15 years now.
I’m currently working for a multi-national record label MILLION ACDEMY, LLC. that handles booking and distribution of artists’ music. My job is A&R and audiovisual production.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
“The relationship that most shaped how I see myself was with my father, my mentor & close friend From a young age, that person taught me values like discipline, creativity, resilience, etc. but more importantly, they believed in me even before I fully believed in myself. Because of that relationship, I learned to recognize my worth, trust my vision, and stay true to who I am—even when the path wasn’t easy.”
When did you stop hiding your pain and start using it as power?
I stopped hiding my pain and started using it as power when I realized that pretending everything was fine was only holding me back. Instead of burying what hurt me, I decided to face it, learn from it, and turn it into fuel. That’s when everything changed — my confidence, my creativity, my voice. Pain stopped being something I ran from, and became something I channeled into purpose.
Next, maybe we can discuss some of your foundational philosophies and views? How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
Fads are loud but short-lived — they create hype, but they fade fast. Foundational shifts move quieter at first, but they create lasting change. The key is to look at the why behind the trend. If it’s rooted in emotion, community, technology, or a cultural need — not just aesthetics or hype — it’s more likely a real shift. I also pay attention to how it evolves: does it influence behavior across different spaces? Does it keep growing even after the spotlight fades? That’s when I know it’s not just a wave — it’s a movement.
Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
I hope people say that I moved with purpose — that I created things that meant something. Not just for views or attention, but because I believed in what I was doing. I hope they say I gave voice to my people, my culture, my struggles, and turned all that into something powerful. That I didn’t follow the wave — I made my own. And most of all, that I inspired others to believe in themselves, even when the world told them not to.
