Life, Values & Legacy: Our Chat with Angel Kirkland of Clearwater

We’re looking forward to introducing you to Angel Kirkland. Check out our conversation below.

Angel, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is a normal day like for you right now?
As the manager of a boys group home, I oversee the day-to-day operations to make sure our children have a safe, supportive, and structured environment where they can truly thrive. My role blends leadership, organization, and heart—I coordinate staff schedules, handle administrative responsibilities, and ensure compliance with state guidelines, all while keeping a close eye on the personal needs of each resident.

One of my favorite parts of the job is creating a home-like atmosphere, and that’s where my background as a private chef comes in. I work closely with the boys to plan and prepare meals that are not only nutritious, but also comforting and flavorful. Whether it’s reimagining a classic favorite to meet dietary needs or introducing them to a new dish, food becomes a way to connect, encourage, and nurture.

At its core, my job is about people—supporting the staff so they can do their best work, advocating for residents so they feel seen and heard, and making sure every day runs smoothly. It’s leadership with a personal touch, and I’m proud to bring both managerial skill and culinary creativity to the table—literally.

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Angel Kirkland—a certified private chef, cookbook author, and creator of a handcrafted, salt-free seasoning line made with clean, pronounceable ingredients. My culinary journey has always been about more than just food; it’s about connection, comfort, and care. That passion shows up in everything I do, from winning first place in a chili competition to developing blends that make healthy cooking flavorful and exciting.

By day, I manage a group home where I make sure our residents are supported, safe, and well-fed—often bringing my chef’s touch to the kitchen to create meals that feel like home. My brand reflects that same philosophy: food should nourish the body and feed the soul. Right now, I’m working on my newest book, Love on the Table, which is all about helping wives bring more warmth, joy, and intentionality to the table—both in meals and in relationships.

What makes my work unique is that it’s rooted in heart. Whether I’m running a home, writing a cookbook, or blending spices, it’s all about creating moments of comfort and connection that last long after the plates are cleared.

Great, so let’s dive into your journey a bit more. What relationship most shaped how you see yourself?
Without a doubt, my relationship with my husband, Alexi Kirkland, has shaped the way I see myself the most. We’ve been married for 15 years, and from the very beginning, he has believed I’m completely unstoppable. He has this unwavering faith in me—whether I’m chasing a new culinary dream, writing a book, or tackling a challenge—that makes me believe I can truly do anything. His support isn’t just encouraging; it’s empowering, and it’s helped me step into every role in my life with confidence and determination.

Was there ever a time you almost gave up?
There have definitely been times when I’ve felt the weight of challenges and thought about giving up—but the truth is, I don’t think I actually know how to quit. My faith in Jesus Christ and the call He has placed on my life are bigger than my fears, frustrations, or fatigue. I believe I’m here for a purpose, and that purpose fuels me even when things get hard.

In those difficult moments, I pray and sit quietly before the Lord, seeking His wisdom, strength, and peace. That time of stillness re-centers me, reminds me who’s really in control, and renews my resolve to keep going.

Quitting simply isn’t an option—there are too many people counting on me, from my family to the residents I care for, to the customers and readers who look to me for encouragement, nourishment, and inspiration. I see every obstacle as an opportunity to lean into my faith, trust God’s plan, and keep moving forward. If anything, those moments have made me more determined to live out my calling with excellence and heart.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. Is the public version of you the real you?
Yes—the public version of me is absolutely the real me. What you see is what you get. I’m the same person whether I’m cooking on camera, speaking at an event, managing the group home, or sitting at my own kitchen table with my family. My faith, my passion for food, and my love for people aren’t just part of my brand—they’re who I am at my core.

Of course, I have quieter moments that don’t always make it to social media—times when I’m praying, reflecting, or simply resting—but those moments are part of the same authentic whole. I believe people connect most with what’s real, so I make a point to bring my genuine self into every interaction, whether it’s public or private.

Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I’m in my kitchen, cooking something from the heart, with worship music playing in the background. There’s something about the rhythm of chopping, stirring, and creating that quiets my mind and fills my spirit. I also find deep peace in my quiet time with the Lord—those moments when I can pray, listen, and just be still in His presence, with a cup of hot coffee in hand, the lights dimmed low, and my journal open to capture my thoughts and prayers. Whether I’m feeding my family, serving residents at the group home, or preparing a new recipe for my customers, that combination of faith, purpose, and creativity is where I feel most centered and content.
