Edrina Gilbert shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Edrina , thank you for taking the time to reflect back on your journey with us. I think our readers are in for a real treat. There is so much we can all learn from each other and so thank you again for opening up with us. Let’s get into it: What’s more important to you—intelligence, energy, or integrity?
The most important thing to me is energy because it cannot be taught, it’s felt. Energy is the first thing you notice when someone walks into a room, it speaks before your presence and before your words. In my work and life, the right energy can build trust, safety, and connection, while the wrong energy can shut all of that down before a conversation even begins.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
Hi, my name is Edrina Gilbert! I am a military spouse & mother of two, and the CEO & founder of Let’s Doula This Baby LLC. I’m a full spectrum doula, childbirth educator, and womb practitioner, offering holistic, evidence-based, and trauma informed care. Let’s Doula This Baby LLC was born from my own experience of giving birth without my mom. I was longing for that nurturing, motherly care. I promised myself that no woman would go through what I went through and I have dedicated my work to guiding women physically, emotionally, and spiritually. through their journeys. This work is deeply personal to me, and I truly love what I do.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that really shaped how I see the world was losing my mom. It felt like a part of me had been cut away. Death can make you at first angry and remorseful, but as time went on my mom’s passing made me grateful and brought acceptance. It taught me to see the world as a village, where we all need a helping hand or someone to lean on. That’s why I do the work I do, because when you help one person, they can help the next, and so on. I believe love conquers all, and finding people who live by that makes all the difference.
What’s something you changed your mind about after failing hard?
Something that changed my mindset after failing hard was realizing I can’t do everything alone. In the past, betrayal and abandonment made me believe no one was there for me, and that I wasn’t supported. But I have learned two things: first, you are NEVER really alone, and second, you just haven’t found your people yet. That saying “there’s somebody out there for everybody” isn’t just about romance, it applies for friendships, business, and any other relationship. This world is too big to do it alone, and success is built on connection.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. What would your closest friends say really matters to you?
My closest friends would say ‘intention’ really matters to me. I believe the intention behind anything you do plays a big role in the outcome. If you want a positive outcome, your intentions has to be carry positive energy! And even if the result isn’t what you hoped for, I know that not everything will be received exactly as it’s given, but the heart behind it still matters.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: When do you feel most at peace?
I feel most at peace when I am supporting, serving, and educating moms. There’s something grounding about knowing they trust me and feel safe, seen, and cared for in my presence. In those moments, I feel aligned with my purpose and reminded that the work I do matters.
