Marina Lofley shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.
Hi Marina, thank you so much for taking time out of your busy day to share your story, experiences and insights with our readers. Let’s jump right in with an interesting one: What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
I’ve been loving any time I get to spend on the water with friends and family. Whether it’s fishing, diving, paddle boarding or just cruising around and hanging out at sandbars on boats and jet skis. That is definitely my happy place to unwind.
Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
My name is Marina Lofley, and I am the owner of Crowned Care Transport. We provide safe and relaible non-emergency medical transportation to ensure clients can get to their appointments, treatments, activities and discharged from hospitals with ease. Many of our clients are wheelchair and bed-bound so traditional methods of transportation are not an option. Crowned Care Transport is committed to treating every passenger with dignity and care- we don’t just provide a ride, we provide a peace of mind. Over the past five years, I’ve been proud to build a service that families can truly depend on during important moments of their lives.
Amazing, so let’s take a moment to go back in time. What’s a moment that really shaped how you see the world?
A moment that forever shaped how I see the world was when I picked up an elderly woman from a condemned home. Her walls were nothing but plywood with no insulation, she slept on a mattress on the floor and it was the middle of winter with no heat. Seeing her live in those conditions broke my heart, but what truly stuck with me was how many people are quietly enduring situations like that, unseen. That experience humbled me and reminded me never to take anything for granted- even the basics- warmth, safety and comfort. It also shifted the way I view my work and life. It made me more compassionate, more grateful and more determined to treat every person I encounter with dignity and grace, because you never truly know the struggles someone is facing behind closed doors.
If you could say one kind thing to your younger self, what would it be?
I’d say, be gentle with yourself. The path to building your life and finding out who you are along the way wont always be smooth, but every challenge, every setback, has a purpose you might not see yet. Trust that even the hard days are shaping you into who you are meant to be. Your heart, effort and compassion truly make a difference. In the end, it all works out, often in ways more beautiful than you could ever imagine.
I think our readers would appreciate hearing more about your values and what you think matters in life and career, etc. So our next question is along those lines. Is the public version of you the real you?
I’d say the public version of me is very much the real me. I don’t hide any part of who I am- I share my passions, my sense of humor, and the things I care about openly. I’m proud of the person I am, while also recognizing that I’m still growing and becoming more. That authenticity is carried into my business as well- we lead with compassion, integrity and making our patients feel comfortable- because that’s who I am and what I value. Life, both personally and professionally, is a journey and I try to show up authentically in every way I can. What people see is genuine, and it’s me being myself, flaws, growth and all, while also striving to make a positive impact through the work I do.
Okay, so let’s keep going with one more question that means a lot to us: Have you ever gotten what you wanted, and found it did not satisfy you?
Yes, often. Early on in building Crowned Care Transport, I thought growing the business and hitting financial goals would bring me happiness and the fulfillment I was looking for. But when I achieved those milestones, it did not feel as satisfying as I had once hoped. What really brought me purpose and joy was being the real impact we could have on people’s lives- like transporting patients from difficult living conditions to a warm, comfortable home. Those experiences remind me that true satisfaction comes from helping others, making a difference and staying true to your values, not just from checking off goals.
