Today we’d like to introduce you to Debbie Fedotenko.
Hi Debbie, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My compassion for animals has been a consistent throughout my life. I was that child who was always bringing home a wounded bird or a lost dog. As I entered adulthood that compassion led me to animal rescue. I have been involved with a number of rescue organization in multiple different cities; my role has varied from shelter volunteer to board member, and everything in between.
In addition, I have always enjoyed being in my kitchen, baking and spreading love through food.
In an effort to support local rescue in a more significant way, I was able to combine my two passions and recently started my own dog treat company. The company, Love, Greta, is affectionately named after our rescue dog who passed away in late 2023. The company sells organic, preservative free dog treats, and all proceeds go to support animals in need.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Thus far the journey has been amazing, with very few stumbles a long the way. I owe much of that good fortune to my ‘right hand’, Jennie, whose ability to wear an infinite number of hats, and wear them all well, has been invaluable to Love, Greta since day one. I definitely consider myself a creative, with a head full of ideas, but Jennie is the one who brings those ideas to life! I am very grateful to have her working with me because she brings a strong skill set that perfectly compliments my own.
I’m not sure this is a struggle, necessarily, but we are at a bit of a thought provoking crossroads right now. As Love, Greta has grown, we find ourselves contemplating scaling the company to the next level, something I would not have conceived of 9 months ago when Love, Greta was in its infancy. There is a lot to consider as we contemplate such a big change.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The mission of Love, Greta is to provide healthy treats to our four legged customers while helping rescue animals in the process. All treats are organic, preservative free, and are made in small batches to insure optimal freshness. We offer a variety of flavors, including options for allergen sensitive dogs who require a grain selective diet, or those needing gluten free options.
Philanthropy is of great importance to the company, and we are immensely proud of the fact that all proceeds from the sale of Love, Greta treats aid local animals in need. At this time, the majority of our donations go to Mercy Full Project Rescue where the funds provide food, medical treatment, spay/neuter procedures, and animal advocacy through community outreach. By supporting Love, Greta, customers are insuring that their own pet is receiving exceptional nutrition while also significantly impacting animal welfare in our area.
