Hi Jenee, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
People often ask me how I got into photography, and the truth is—it all started with a baby.
When my daughter was born, everything changed. Like many new moms, I wanted to freeze time. Every smile, every tiny hand grasp, every sleepy yawn—I wanted to remember it all. So I picked up a camera. At first, it was just about capturing her moments for myself. I didn’t have any formal training, just a deep desire to document this beautiful new life.
At the time, I was working full time in real estate. It was a busy, demanding job, but photography quickly became my creative escape. I’d find myself staying up late, watching tutorials, practicing editing, and studying light. What started as a hobby quickly became a passion.
Friends began to notice my photos and started asking if I could take pictures of their families, engagements, or newborns. One thing led to another, and soon I was photographing my first wedding. I was nervous, but the feeling I had while capturing those once-in-a-lifetime moments was electric. I knew I had found something special.
Fast forward ten years, and I’ve now photographed over 900 weddings. Each one has been its own unique story—a celebration of love, family, and connection. I’ve gone from being a mom with a camera to a full-time wedding photographer, running a business I’m deeply proud of.
Photography has given me more than I ever expected. It started with love for my baby girl and turned into a career filled with emotion, art, and connection. And while the gear and skills have evolved, the heart behind the lens remains the same: capturing moments that matter.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Learning the photography business has been hard work! You really have to pay dues and work incredibly hard for years to learn the logistics of running a business as well as learning how events flow and perfection your overall look. Wedding photography isn’t for the faint of heart for sure. It requires LOTS of patience, a genuine love for people and the ability to be flexible under pressure while capturing moments forever! No pressure right!
