Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Linette Rivera.
Hi Dr. Rivera, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Dr. Linette Rivera and I am double board-certified physician in Internal Medicine as well as Endocrinology and Metabolism. I did medical school in Puerto Rico and moved to Tampa 12 years ago to start medical residency at the University of South Florida. After graduating I started working as an endocrinologist for the local Tampa hospital. After doing this for 2 yrs, I realized I wanted more than a 9-5 pm job where I was writing notes until 1am every morning. So, after much thought, I decided to venture into the world of aesthetics.
I’ve always been passionate about hormones but had in me the desire to learn more about laser treatments and aesthetic services. I believe the secret to achieving a healthy lifestyle and a better quality of life is restoring hormone balance and preserving beauty and confidence at any age. Therefore, after spending 2 years learning about laser devices and aesthetic services I decided to open with a partner a unique medical aesthetic practice in South Tampa where the doctors could supervise the treatments being done to our patients.
After 6 years building the practice, Bella Mia Medical now provides the best laser technology in the aesthetic market and ensures patients feel better and see results inside and out. For me, results are the most important thing! Not only targeting their skin concerns but also results that improve patients’ confidence and the way they see themselves when they look in the mirror.
At the clinic, I started offering facials and injectables and we now offer all types of laser treatments including liposuction and body sculpting.
I also offer expert guidance in Bioidentical Hormone Therapy and Wellness Medicine and offer men and women the compassion and time necessary to help them achieve their health and aesthetic goals.
I am also a laser speaker and travel around the world to tell others about my aesthetic journey and how they are able to make their entrepreneurial dreams come true!
I also offer educational trainings for different laser modalities and teach others about safety, unique laser treatments and the best laser practices.
Here I am today, always learning and improving myself. I would’ve never thought that I would be where I am today and can’t even imagine where I will be in 5 years.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Growing the clinic makes you have to make tough choices. I’ve had to work 2 jobs to cover my salary when I left my endocrinology job so that we didn’t have to take unnecessary loans to open our practice. There were weeks I was working 80 hrs a week with minimal sleep.
COVID was a hard year because we had moved to a new space which was 3 times in size and 1 week after moving-in the country shutdown. It was beyond stressful and I was reinventing myself through Instagram but our patients saw the value of keeping our clinic open and helped us by buying skincare and pre-purchasing laser treatments. I will never be able to say “THANK YOU” enough to our AMAZING patients. We survived the pandemic shutdown and here we are almost 2 years in our new location.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At the clinic, we offer all types of injectables like Dermal Fillers and Botox, any type of laser treatment for skin tightening, pigmentation problems, active acne and acne scarring treatments, lasers to improve skin texture and wrinkles, anti-aging lasers and chemical peels, laser-assisted liposuction, bioidentical hormone therapy, and weight loss treatments, among many other services.
I am proud of being able to take a risk into a dream that I had of having my own practice and being able to grow that practice from having no patients to having a busy aesthetic clinic. I am proud of having the opportunity to become an expert in laser technology and having the honor of being invited to speak to others about my laser techniques and results.
I am different to other aesthetic providers because I think of the patient as a whole. Not only improving maybe that sunspot you have on your cheek but also preventing further skin aging, teaching patients about skincare, and improving the way they feel by balancing their hormones. I like to make sure my patients are changing their lifestyle and I design an aesthetic treatment plan that will provide them with long-lasting and amazing results.
I also make sure that I have the absolute BEST laser equipment in the market so that I can deliver real results to my patients while taking into account safety and different skin tones.
Being Hispanic myself has given me a passion to learn about the different ethnic skin tones and how to treat them safely and effectively with different laser modalities. We are not all created equal therefore my treatments are unique for each patient.
Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
I talked about COVID earlier but I’ve learned that nothing is certain in life and that doing good to others always comes around.
That you have to always be prepared for the worse and that God has my life in His hands and nothing will prevent his plan from being a reality in my life!
I’ve learned that I am here today because of the love of my patients and because other partners in the industry have helped me grow. So, my success is not only due to me but God and a big group of amazing people that surround me!
