Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Greene.
Hi Kristen, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
After college, I moved out to Los Angeles for seven years. Lala land was everything and then some. I worked my way up in the fashion industry until I was managing a million dollar floor in the designer division at Nordstrom. I eventually made my way back to Florida, and decided to lay down my roots in Tampa. Real Estate has always been one of my passions. My mom has been a Realtor for the past 20 years, my husband has been a Realtor for the past seven. It’s the number one topic of conversation, always! In the beginning, I started to help my husband find wholesale properties, which then turned into helping him with home flips. I loved the entire process. Eventually, that lead to me designing plans for a custom home and after that, I was hooked. After having over 12 years of sales and customer service experience under my belt, transitioning into the real estate world was the next organic step for me. I haven’t looked back since. I’ve been a real estate agent for the past couple years and have really been able to see this market take off!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning of any career, growth and change are painful, but nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong. I absolutely love my job. That being said, it’s a little overwhelming at times getting through your first few deals. You’ll make mistakes, just don’t make the same mistake twice. Real Estate will always have its challenges, there are a lot of moving parts to every deal so you have to be on your A game. No deal is ever the same. Nowadays everyone thinks they can flip a house because they love the show Fixer Upper. It’s your job to pay attention to the little details of the home as well as the basic fundamentals. Do the door hinges match the door hardware? Does the cabinet above the fridge open? Listings will say that a home has all new windows, but come to find out there’s one bathroom window that’s the original because the seller was being cheap. Why would my clients pay full price for a home in any of these scenarios? They wouldn’t because I’d never let them. Negotiating the purchase of a home is an emotional process, you need someone to not be emotional for you. You need someone to think logically, and that’s where I come in.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Realtor who specializes in Residential Real Estate. I don’t let my clients overpay for a property, and I make a game plan with them to increase their home equity by the time they’re ready to sell. The last thing you want to do is to invest in real estate and then be upside down on it. My vision and the ability to see the potential of a property sets me apart from anyone else. I’ve been involved on the flip side of the business for five years and have a solid design background. I can tell you on the spot if a room has been converted, if a wall can be knocked down, how easy it’d be to add a bathroom etc. I’ve encouraged clients to look at homes that they didn’t necessarily want to look at, and after showing them my vision, they ended up buying the home. Your Realtor should be an expert in Real Estate, that’s a given. They should also be well versed in the design, functionality, and the potential of a property. This has organically led to taking on clients for their future interior design and renovation projects. I love being able to see my vision come to life and be involved in the process from beginning to end.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
Believe it or not, I get a lot of my new clients through Instagram! I’m all about being in your flow and letting collaborations happen naturally. I’ve been very blessed with the referrals that my network continues to give me. There’s nothing more rewarding than a referral from a previous client! Based on my credentials and past experience, I excel when my clients put their faith and trust in me, and give me the freedom to make their dream home a reality.
