Today we’d like to introduce you to Kasey Slye.
Hi Kasey, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Hair and beauty have always played a significant role in my life as far as I can remember. I’ve always appreciated all aspects of style with a diverse perspective of beauty. Whether it’s classic looks, the latest trends, or vivid statements, I love and embrace it all. Even after 15 years, it’s still rewarding. Hair really is a fantastic medium for artistic expression and for expressing individuality.
When I finally decided to make my passion my career, there was no turning back. Since completing hair school in 2006 with a corporate label, it opened doors to progress my career here in Tampa with that same label. That salon experience gave me the platform to utilize my enthusiasm for all aspects of style and beauty. Not only was I able to improve my skill, through continued education and years of experience, I was afforded the opportunity to empower each guest so they left looking and feeling fantastic. That’s truly the best part of my job and it’s what keeps me passionate.
It’s those established relationships with guests and colleagues that afforded me to eventually break away from the corporate world to become an independent stylist. Since 2017 I’ve enjoyed building my own brand while maintaining those relationships as I continue to grow a local following in the Channel District. I’m so grateful I get to do what I love for a living, while surrounded in great company.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There’re always bumps along the way, but with the right mindset, you learn you’re able to overcome just about anything.
One of my biggest struggles was just getting established here in Florida. After working in a private salon for a couple years after hair school, I was hungry for more opportunity outside of my small hometown in PA. The thoughts of sunshine and palm trees got me through months of working 4 jobs. Finally, I saved up enough money and courage to make the leap of faith to start a brand-new life here in Tampa.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love creating color of all kinds. My specialty is in hair cutting and styling and I consider myself a ‘curl enthusiast’.
I take pride in my technical ability as well as my customer service. I’m probably known best for being so accommodating and providing a customized experience.
