Rising Stars: Meet Jasmine Rezac

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Rezac.

Hi Jasmine, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up, I’ve always had a passion for art. I learned to appreciate art from my father who owns a successful Jewelry store called Otto’s Jewelry on St. Armands Circle in Sarasota. So naturally, as a kid, you would always catch me sketching in my notebook or coming up with a new creative hobby. As I grew older, I still carried that passion along with me. I’ve always loved photography as a hobby and enjoyed learning how to improve my skills. When the pandemic broke out in 2020, it got me thinking that it was a good time to give photography a chance and turn it into a business. I started right away by building my portfolio and to my surprise, I booked my first wedding shortly after. Ever since, I’ve found new ways to expand my creative skills by trying new locations, prompts and poses, and making each session unique to my clients.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In the beginning, it was a lot of trial and error. I had to learn how to use my camera in Manual mode and test myself in different lighting conditions whether that be indoor or outdoor lighting. Not to mention that it was also intimidating to put myself out there through social media and marketing. There is lots of work that comes along with starting a new business which includes building a portfolio, creating a website, contracts, & financial bookkeeping. I knew that if I wanted to become a successful business, I needed to show confidence in my work and that my clients could trust me with their images. Because of this, I always strive to communicate all the little details with my clients. Such as, guides on what to wear, the best time and location that suits their style, and what matters most to them.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a Portrait & Wedding Photographer based out of Southwest FL. I specialize in capturing authentic moments so my clients can relive that moment years down the road. Photography is more than just taking a picture but it’s also telling a story. Each session is unique to the client and finding what best suits their style. Whether that be having a session by an old vintage car, sipping champagne on a rooftop, going on a sailboat ride, or maybe where you first met. These are the type of pictures that will create a memory to look back on years down the road and take my clients right back to that very moment. My goal is always to make my clients feel comfortable and confident in front of the camera. During one of my sessions, I use prompts to bring true emotion to the images, instead of posed and stiff. Each time an inquiry comes in, I am beyond ecstatic to see what my clients are envisioning and bring to life that vision for their photoshoot or wedding day.

What matters most to you? Why?
Creating the best experience for my clients! Photoshoots shouldn’t feel awkward but instead, feel like a fun memory. There is nothing more satisfying than knowing that my clients love their images and that they can have timeless memories for the rest of their life. Another thing that matters to me is that I continue to expand my creative outlook, to push myself out of the box with new techniques, and keeping my photography as an art form and not just a business.
