Meet Roy Foley of Aeropro Coaching

Hi Roy, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
After college I worked in corporate America for 15 years. I started riding a bike to get into shape. I would hang out at a local bike shop and one day they offered me a job. I left my secure career to become a bike fitter. I worked for a few bike shops in the area and eventually ventured off on my own. I worked in small offices throughout Tampa. I am in my 8th year working for myself and 13 years as a bike fitter. My most recent expansion was moving into an old historic building in west Tampa on Main Street. We moved in 2 months prior to COVID. Our space is a studio for people to custom fit bikes, endurance coaching, bike service and coffee shop. My parents both passed away this past year. The last place they got to see was my new space before they passed away. I just started a Charity called THE SOCKS charity. We will be an official 501(3)(c) in 2-4 weeks. We sell socks that say FU Cancer. 100% of proceeds go towards the charity. We help local families in need who are battling cancer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not a smooth road at all. I went from a 6-figure income job to making 30k at a bike shop. I basically lost it all to reinvent myself and follow my passion. Lots of long hours, missed time with family and friends, tons of work. Some weeks I wasn’t sure how I would pay my bills. Lots or sleepless nights and tears.

As you know, we’re big fans of Aeropro Coaching. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
We specialized in helping endurance athletes through custom coaching and mentorship. Our studio custom fits bikes so people can perform better and make the correct buying decisions. One claim to fame is I worked in a Wind Tunnel doing Aero Dynamic testing. I have worked with Professionals and Olympic levels. But our everyday customer is the person riding their bike for the first time or NEWBIEs. We have built a very solid brand in the Tampa area. We have people who come from all over to work with us. We even work with athletes in several different countries.

How do you think about luck?
No luck at all, just a lot of hard work, loss of hours and tons of sacrifice.
