Meet Libby Bolles

Today we’d like to introduce you to Libby Bolles.

Hi Libby, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My mom and I have always loved house plants, but after the stay-at-home orders throughout the pandemic, our obsession grew! We knew others felt the same so we started with renovating a cargo trailer from an AC company, and turned it into our mobile plant shop. We went to business and markets, and now we are opening our own retail location!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It’s definitely been a fun ride, but not without a lot of hard lessons. Mostly how hot it is during the summer. Like all other businesses, we had to learn how to adapt and grow in our ever-changing post-pandemic world. We are based almost entirely outside, but in the Florida Summer Heat, and summer storms, we learned to adapt and host online sales with socially distanced pick-up and drop-off options! In our short time in business, we’ve been able to cultivate a great community of plant lovers and are so grateful for their support through every schedule change and pivot!

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I (Libby) at full time with Fancy Leaf Plant Co. and come from a background of state and federal government! My mom, Jody Nader, who co-owns the business is a lifelong Registered Nurse.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
To seize the opportunity of a lifetime within the lifetime of the opportunity. You don’t have to have it all figured out or a perfect step-by-step plan. Sometimes you just have to jump and see what happens.
