Today we’d like to introduce you to Katie Isaac.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’m a Certified Personal Trainer, and hold various certifications in Nutrition and work with adults locally as well as virtually.
I’m an ACE Certified Personal Trainer and lead Outdoor Bootcamps with Camp Gladiator and also train privately at my home. I’m a Certified Precision Nutrition Coach, AFPA Holistic Nutritionist, AFPA Wellness Counselor, and ACE Fitness Nutrition Certified.
I started my fitness journey around 2006 after College when I felt uncomfortable and lacked confidence in myself. I, like many, was sick and tired of being sick and tired. I started working out and eating well, and at the time it spiraled from one extreme to the other where I spent over 2 years battling anorexia and bulimia. I then met my husband in 2007 and in 2009 when we were told that we wouldn’t be able to have children due to the damage I had caused, I decided that it was time to heal myself mentally and physically and learn the proper ways to take care of myself so we could have a family.
Fast forward we now have 3 beautiful children and we are extremely blessed.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Career path-wise, I went from being a full-time classroom teacher to a traveling consultant, and then landed in the personal training field after a huge move from Ohio to Florida after my husband underwent 2 Achilles tendon surgeries.
When I began my personal training career my husband was working full-time in Ocala, FL, and I was raising a 4, 3, and 6-month-old and went all in. Starting in 2017, I started educating myself on nutrition and am currently enrolled and halfway through my Master of Holistic Nutrition program through AFPA.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
This is a 2-part answer as I am a personal trainer for a nationwide organization known as Camp Gladiator, and I also do private personal training from my home as well as nutrition and my newly found company Isaac Academy Wellness. What sets me apart from others is that when I work with individuals I know that it is not a one size fits all approach. I am interested in knowing everything about that individual so that we can create the right approach to help them reach their goal whether it be weight loss, navigating food sensitivities, body recomposition, or preventative care for their future. I truly care about reaching everyone on an individual level.
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
Know you’re why, have a family and strong support system behind you, and don’t look back.
I’m definitely an odd man out as I don’t do many networking events, rely solely on word of mouth and positive experiences with my clients, and reach others through organic and minimal social media.
