Life & Work with Yadigsy Hernandez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yadigsy Hernandez.

Hi Yadigsy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I enrolled in the Graphic Arts Academy as a freshmen in high school. To be honest, I did it so my friend and I could have the same class schedule. Little did I know I had found my calling. I fell in love! After graduation, I had a scholarship to St. Petersburg College to study graphic design. Unfortunately, life got messy so I opted for a vocational degree in the medical field. I worked in the medical field for some time, but for most of my life I worked in the legal field. Even though I enjoyed the work, I often felt trapped, overwhelmed and overworked. My only outlet was traveling, but then Covid-19 started and there went my outlet. My husband and I began working from home like most of the world. I loved being home, but no travel meant my frustration with work was overbearing. So I made a bold decision. We cut back on our expenses and simplified our lives as much as possible. I quit my full-time job at the end of 2020 and opened 3000 Little Pixels in January 2021. That was SCARY! I had designed things here and there throughout the years, but this was on another level. I was finally pursuing my dream! I’ve spent countless hours researching, watching tutorials, and learning by trial and error. This journey has taken me over 15 years, but I’m so happy I never gave up on my true passion.

My business is named after my fur baby’s nickname, 3000.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Is there such a thing? A month after opening, I had to step back for a few months due to personal reasons. When I was finally able to start again, I was terrified. I remember staring at the computer and not being able to open Adobe. It took all I had to snap out of it and get back to work. There is a little voice inside my head constantly telling me I’m not good enough, I’m not made for this, or how dare I try to do something outside the box. I am a classic example of imposter syndrome.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am a graphic designer specializing in:

01. Brand Identity
02. Logo Design
03. Social Media Templates
04. Print Design/Custom Orders

I love helping new and experienced businesses stand out in this ever-changing competitive market. I believe every business regardless of their size should have a fair chance to succeed and feel confident in themselves.

Designing has always been an enjoyable hobby, but when I discovered how you can evoke emotions through colors, fonts, and shapes I was swept off my feet. Yup, I’m that much of a geek.

I want to use my skills and knowledge to empower YOU to feel confident and take your business to the next level. Nothing makes me happier than seeing my clients fall in love with their brand identity.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband has been my biggest supporter and cheerleader. It was his idea for me to quit my job and start my own business. He’s been my emotional support as well. I’ve had many ups and downs throughout my journey and I am beyond grateful to him for always being by my side.

Sometimes I need a second pair of eyes or opinions. My friends have been so great at giving me constructive criticism and sharing uplifting comments.

All my clients inspire me to not give up and believe in myself. They are a delight to work with and their loving text messages, emails, and reviews fill my heart with joy.

I had the privilege of working with Blanca Maleni Photo. Blanca did such an amazing job with my branding photos. She even did research on my industry and found a studio for us to use. It was a wonderful experience.
