Life & Work with Niurka Calero Alayón

Today we’d like to introduce you to Niurka Calero Alayón.

Hi Niurka, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
In 2006 my daughter Gabriella was born, a beautiful girl with 47 chromosomes, she changed my existence, we have been helping her express her talents and abilities since she was born, today she is a 15-year-old girl studying in the ninth grade, she is bilingual, receives ballet, tap, and general art classes since she was three years old, she has been exposed to artistic manifestations in general.

In 2008, I started from Facebook to create content to express my creative passions, I was able to publish two books of poetry, I have collaborated on blogs and pages of other creators. I take classes through the State Department Initiative for Young Leaders of America since 2019 (YLAI) and in the YouTube creators academy, building and developing our experience in that network, collaborating and empowering other creators who like us are developing their work on that platform.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The important thing about a path is that it is your choice, it will always be full of challenges and difficulties, that is what most teaches and prepares the individual, I have made you appreciate the beauty of everyday life, the strength of ideas, talent and the devotion of the individual, always with the joy of being alive, doing what I like, finding meaning.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a translator of Spanish and English, I help people who do not speak the official language in the United States to communicate in official appointments or medical appointments, I am a notary public in the state of Florida, writer, creator of content on networks, active volunteer for Straz Performance Art center since 2011, my daughter’s education my biggest challenge, I am proud of every achievement she achieves, I am passionate, punctual and empathic, committed to my dreams, without being able to forget my homeland: Cuba.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Punctuality, enthusiasm, the desire to listen and learn are essential to advance in any area of life, respect the time of others and be grateful for the opportunity to be there and be able to cooperate collaborate with other people, that is where the true human growth.
