Life & Work with Danny Darko

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danny Darko.

Hi Danny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I was born and raised in Tampa Florida and have been here majority of my life. Consequently, growing up here I faced my fair share of hard times and at a young age, I found that writing music/poetry was a great outlet from the hardships around me. I started out with a small group of friends around 9-10 but quickly learned that I had a talent and affinity for writing and performing my art. After moving a lot, many things changed in my life but one thing was always there for me, music and the art associated with it. When I was a freshman in high school, I met a friend that put me on to my first recording studio, a microphone in a classmate’s closet hooked up to his computer. From the makeshift studio to professional studios such as ’The Sound Gallery Tampa’ I continually upgraded my craft and skills in writing and performing my music. I often write about the world around me, my experiences, both negative and positive, and even prospective embellishments of the life I’m working hard to live. Along the way, I’ve created networks to other creatives such as producers and videographers, and other artists in the pursuit of elevating my art to my most recent accomplishments in which I’ve performed at the popular Ybor venue ‘The Orpheum’.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road, since I was young, I’ve seen and experienced struggles ranging from ray addictions in my family, evictions, homelessness, days in and out of fighting, and even witnessing people dying. It’s been a very tough road but I feel that every day is a blessing and when you know what the bottom is like, the only way for you to go is up

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m an artist, specifically a recording artist. I make music that fits within the rap/hip hop category and even sometimes the RnB and pop variety. I specialize in my lyricism and flow as well as ability to tell stories and convey emotion within my art. Ultimately, I make music for everyone because I feel that at some point and to some degree, I’ve felt everything. I’m currently most proud of my first official album that I put on streaming platforms called “Pure Vision”, that album is a testament to what sets me apart from others, my ability to mold and show variety in my music. If you don’t like track one, you’ll like track two, if you don’t like track 2, you’ll like track 3, and so forth. I feel like I am a once in a generation artist that can be truthful, relatable, and entertaining all at the same time

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
Initially, I was a sweet and intelligent kid, optimistic, athletic, and outgoing. For years I was often complimented for my “smooth-talking” and ability to understand and relate to most people especially those that were older than me.
