Life & Work with Alfonsa Riley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alfonsa Riley.

Hi Alfonsa, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Risky Bizness Entertainment CEO and Founder Alfonsa Riley was born in Clearwater, Florida. I got my first start in music back in 2001 as a rapper. Later I founded the independent music label and Talent Management company Risky Bizness Entertainment back in 2006. Focusing mainly on songwriting at the time I found myself being a ghostwriter and songwriter for independent local artists and even wrote a hook on a song featuring international artist Ray J and Rapper Bun B. In the summer of 2008, I signed my youngest daughter to my talent management contract where I managed her modeling and acting career. I then moved on to managing and adding more talent to my roster by signing super model Shanell “The Model” to my talent management company as well. I continued to work my regular nine to five while consistently building my empire, in 2016 I was given a worldwide distribution deal through Symphonic Distribution and then Risky Bizness Entertainment got its big break when I signed my first musical act, international Rap Duo and daughters “Pretti Emage”, to the label and Talent management. With the break of their success in the music industry and star power, Risky Bizness entertainment finally became a household name. In 2020 Risky Bizness Entertainment then went on to sign National R&B/Soul artist and singer-songwriter Shaadoh Session to the Music Label and Talent Management and in 2021 I signed my first AfroPop/AfroBeat Act out of Ghana, Kakra Jay. Today Risky Bizness Entertainment has become somewhat of a major independent label and talent management company creating a foundation for Independent Artists and Talent worldwide.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s definitely been a lot of ups and downs while creating a career in the music industry. A lot of the struggles is just finding people to believe in you enough to invest in your business. Finding funding while your business is in its neophyte stage is crucial. Also, the music industry is ever-changing so keeping up with it all can also be challenging. Plus finding the right talent is key.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
As an Independent Music Label and Talent Management company, I wear many hats. I’m not only the label owner and music mogul in the making but I’m also the manager, the A&R, the music marketing, and promotional personnel as well. And what I’m most proud of is that I have the ability to balance everything single-handedly without missing a step. What sets me apart from any other independent music label is my track record showing just how far I can take any Independent Artists who’s also willing to put in the work.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is measured not how much money you obtain but in how many obstacles you have overcome to reach that Pinnacle moment of success.
