Inspiring Conversations with Bridgette Simmonds of Limitless by Bridgette

Today we’d like to introduce you to Bridgette Simmonds.

Hi Bridgette, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Growing up the first generation American kid of Jamaican parents, there was an image of what success meant. My father would frequently express how proud he would be if I was a doctor when I grew up, so I was on the path to becoming an MD and making my parents proud when I had a huge – and bloody – wake-up call.

I was a freshman at the University of South Florida here in Tampa when I cut my hand on a large piece of glass and thought I was dying as the blood ran out of my hand. It turned out that the two times I passed out en route to the emergency room were simply my inability to handle blood.

It was in a candid conversation with the doctor stitching up my wound that she said that I might not be cut out for a career in medicine given my accident caused me so much angst.

She was correct.

I changed my major to business and completed my degree and set out to be a success in the corporate world climbing the proverbial ladder. The only problem was I quickly realized that this corporate life did not excite me nor did it set my soul on fire. I could not escape the feeling that there had to be more to life than working a job, paying bills, and repeating that for my entire life.

I set out on a mission to find my life purpose as well as figure out a way that I could live in this purpose not tied to a company. I discovered I truly enjoyed connecting with people in the same place – checking all of the boxes the external world says will make you successful, yet feeling bored and unfulfilled. This is what led me to find coaching and then create Limitless by Bridgette, a coaching and training organization that supports driven and drained women to connect to their purpose and own a business that fulfills them.

I worked in my business on nights and weekends until I gathered enough courage and savings to quit my 9 to 5 in 2016 and work in Limitless by Bridgette full time. It has been a joy to connect with clients across the globe to clarify their goals and dreams and then support them in taking their own courageous steps to do so.

I work with both individuals as well as teams in order to find clarity, courage, and strategy for taking the next step to make their visions and goals for the future a reality.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road at all. The largest and most persistent obstacle has been my own doubts and fears about what was possible for me.

Because all I knew was working a corporate gig to live, it felt extremely scary and sometimes impossible that there was a way to support myself with my business doing it full time.

Before I left my job, I saved up only three months of living expenses. I wanted to save up six months of savings AND pay off all of my debt, but that would have delayed my exit from the corporate world. So with only three months, I took the leap. During the first few months on my own, I had a few clients and one event that was a complete failure because nobody signed up.

I actually had to dip into this savings in order to pay my mortgage and my bills and this was one of the scariest moments of them all because three months goes by VERY quickly and watching those bank accounts shrink month after month was super nerve-racking. The LAST thing I wanted to do was go back to work in insurance after just a short time.

In order to save money, I canceled all unnecessary expenditures – no more cable, no more eating out, no more vacations. It was a sacrifice, but I was willing to do it in service to my dreams.

I also signed up to drive for Uber as a backup income source. I was willing to do whatever it took to be free.

I only drove one passenger for Uber and quickly realized I was not cut out for that, however. And thankfully, by month four of being on my own, my business started to take off and I was finally able to add to my savings again instead of withdrawing.

Whew! It felt like I was standing on a ledge.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We work by removing anything that is limiting them from achieving those goals and dreams. We are far greater than motivation – we inspire. We connect with the spark of desire inside of the most driven individuals who value personal growth, excellence, and fun in their life and in their careers and businesses.

We are most proud that every client we work with says the same thing – they have achieved things they once thought impossible before working with us. Prior to working with Limitless, they’d achieved great success, yet were experiencing burnout or not able to ascend much higher than a certain point in their business. Our clients bring us a dream and a goal and we support them in gaining clarity and creating the strategy and accountability to accomplish their goals and dreams on their terms.

What’s most unique about Limitless by Bridgette is we connect with the individual needs of our clients and follow their lead in creating the success they desire. There is no prescribed method because each client defines success for themselves.

We specialize in driven and drained women business owners who desire to connect with their purpose in order to experience greater ease, flow, and success in their business. We offer private client one-on-one, Executive retreats, speaking, and community groups.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Passion. I have a deep love and passion for who I am and what I do as well as the people that I am called to serve as a Coach and guide.

It’s because of this passion I often receive compliments about my “energy” and what I know they are referring to is this passion and love I have for everyone and everything around me.
