Exploring Life & Business with Kelsey Korfhage of Bijou Aesthetics

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kelsey Korfhage.

Kelsey, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I began my career as a physician assistant a couple of years ago. I originally worked in women’s health where I found my passion for helping women throughout various stages of their life.

Building strong relationships with my patients was my number one priority. I also had a strong passion for beauty and skincare. It was in the winter of 2021 that I decided to leave my career in women’s health to pursue starting my practice in aesthetics. Thus, Bijou Aesthetics was born.

For many months, I was building my business and my brand to create a new approach to aesthetic medicine. When you come into Bijou Aesthetics, you will be welcomed by a calm aesthetic with a modern approach. Bijou strives to remove the “sterile” and “clinical” side of aesthetics. When you are here, all attention is focused on you.

Bijou is derived from the french meaning of something delicate, elegant, or highly prized. I decided to incorporate french ideologies into Bijou as I have always been inspired by french beauty. There is an effortless look with french women with a “less is more” approach.

This is my approach to Bijou Aesthetics. I want my patients’ treatments to be natural and achieve a more enhanced version of themselves.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Starting an aesthetic practice is not always smooth.

There is a huge learning curve. In medical training, you are not taught how to operate a business. Most of the time, there is an office manager to handle all the business aspects of practice.

When you begin, you do not have these luxuries. There were many times of staying up researching all night long to make Bijou Aesthetics a reality.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
Bijou Aesthetics serves the lovely community of New Tampa/Tampa Palms. We specialize in neurotoxins (aka Botox) and micro-needling. Bijou Aesthetics is female-owned.

We strive to make aesthetics more approachable and accessible to various generations of men and women. When you come into Bijou Aesthetics, you can expect a warm, trendy environment with a curated aesthetic. Aesthetic offices can sometimes be very cold and clinical and we reject this at Bijou.

In an effort to make aesthetics more accessible, we offer many specials. New clients can get wrinkle relaxers (botox) for $9/unit and we offer micro-needling at a discounted rate for your first session as well.

What do you like and dislike about the city?
Growing up in Indiana, I was not exposed to as much diversity. I would say Tampa’s diversity is my favorite thing. We have amazing food and culture all over. And of course, the weather!

My least favorite thing is the humidity. Great for skin but terrible for hair.

  • Neurotoxin $10/unit
  • Microneedling $250
  • New clients: Neurotoxin $9/unit
