Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Young.
Hi Brad, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I started taking photos when I was 14. I played football throughout middle school and high school and I got a pretty nasty concussion when I was a freshman. So, I stopped playing. All my friends were still on the team though, so I picked up a camera to continue being a part of the team. My dad taught me the basics and I took off running. Guess it turns out I was pretty good at it.
When I moved to Florida for college, I immediately contacted the athletics department at FGCU to see if I could contribute to their teams… I ended up being the sole staff photographer at FGCU for three of my four years.
Now that I am graduated, I have started my own photography company doing a little bit of everything with a focus on sports and telling the story of athletics.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ups and downs, but fortunately I have had a good core group of supportive friends and family to keep me going.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I am a one-stop-shop for photographic needs. What sets me apart is my vertically, I can go from shooting a sporting event to a portrait shoot to a nonprofit documentary trip (based on real events) and not miss a beat.
I love to tell stories, and whether it is big or small moments, they all deserve to be shared.
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is defined by the value my images create for my clients.
