Hi Alexis, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Born and raised in Baton Rouge, I didn’t exactly appreciate the beauty of Cajun cuisine.
It wasn’t until moving to Tampa in 2014 that I finally got the craving for the taste of home. And of course, with that craving came homesickness for Louisiana hospitality, parades, and festivals. By 2016, I was determined to bring the flavors of home to Tampa!
Finally, in 2019, Baton Roux was created and by 2020 Baton Roux was on the road! It’s been a dream come true to bless Florida with food inspired by the recipes of my family and grandmother, Willie Mae.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
In 2020, 9 days before the pandemic I opened Baton Roux! I was excited! I was hopeful! I was ready!
Things didn’t go as planned but I never gave up! I continued to find ways to get Baton Roux on the road! I created safe pick-up options, traveled directly to customers, and offered drop-off catering.
With all the determination Baton Roux is still on the road, very busy, and planning to expand!

Baton Roux is a mobile restaurant serving Tampa Bay and surrounding areas.
We offer authentic Cajun cuisine including crawfish etouffee, Cajun red beans and rice with Cajun sausage, chicken and sausage jambalaya, seafood gumbo, beignets, and more! We also specialize in catering for small/large occasions such as weddings, birthdays, anniversaries, business luncheons, Employee Appreciation Day, and so much more.
Baton Roux is known for, and I am most proud to offer the finest authentic Louisiana ingredients! There are no substitutes or shortcuts to our traditional recipes.
We are excited to announce that we are growing and expanding our mobile restaurant into a brick-and-mortar in the heart of Downtown, Tampa!
We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Due to the Covid-19 crisis, I’ve learned an important lesson to keep striving for your purpose! Each path is connected to a purpose. Never give up because there’s a light at the end of the tunnel!
