Hi Danielle, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Standing on an elliptical machine at the gym I notice groups of women coming from a dark room on the other side. They were smiling, laughing and didn’t have the UGH expression I was wearing at all. What was this rolled up mat they were carrying? crossed my mind first. Before leaving I looked at the class schedule to find Yoga there. I didn’t really know what that meant but I knew they were on to something more than that silly elliptical machine. I went to the next scheduled class. It was weird but I felt great so I went back again and again for a couple of years even following the teacher when she opened her own studio. I felt stronger and calmer after every class but life seemed to take control as my career started demanding more and more of my time. After becoming a mommy Yoga became more something, I was going to do rather than something I did. Fast forward 10 years and so many ups and downs I needed help. I had been to Dr.s, taken antidepressants and antianxiety meds but nothing was helping. I was spent. I had spent all my time doing for others, pouring from my cup to a point I had nothing left. I was empty and that’s when I remembered it was Yoga I was going to go back to and did. As my cup began to fill back up, I began to fill more alive than ever before. I knew If yoga could help me it could help others and I wanted to share that with anyone I could. After bringing my 17-year career to a part time position I had the freedom to learn and teach more of what had helped me, Yoga. That journey began with meeting a few neighbors by my pool or other moms under oak trees and that’s when I knew. They started telling me things like ” my hips don’t hurt anymore” “You have helped me so much” “I have never felt better”. These words inspired me to help others. Initially, my goal was to introduce others to yoga and help them find a path by finding ways to hold events. We now get to offer yoga in many spaces where I get to meet new people and help them find a class that works for them after the event. Salty Souls has quickly become a place for our members to let go of tensions, build inner and outer strength, grow and feel safe. I love sharing the life of yoga more than anything but still enjoy a fun creative Vinyasa Flow, Yoga Nidra or other guided meditation. It’s a gift and honor to be able to share in healing. Our world desperately needs more light, less people pleasing, more attention on the good, those who are genuine, more people who cultivate love, less comparison and more compassion and forgiveness.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Nothing that can’t be overcome. Honored to take the lessons.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Salty Souls Yoga?
