Today we’d like to introduce you to Treisha Marcoux.
Hi Treisha, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
My love of mermaids started at a young age. I was always a fish and loved the water. Living in Florida you grow up going to pools, springs, and beaches. My mom always loved mermaids her bathroom was always decorated with them. I was not born in Florida though I came from Santurce Puerto Rico near San Juan! I moved to Florida at 1 year old. So one has been always an island fishy.
I was about 5 years old when I first saw the Weeki Wachee mermaid show I was mesmerized. Made my parents take me all the time… And that was it for me that’s what I wanted to do. I also had a love for make-up at the age of 12 helping my mom with her makeup business I was her helper. And that launched my own makeup business Glamarcoux.Artistry.
I’ve done makeup for many Brides and Photographers. But really wanted to incorporate both together. So I do birthday parties and put makeup with jewels on the little guppies with permission of course. My last of 4 who I share the love of mermaids is my daughter Coralenna who learned to swim in a tail at the age of 4. Never had floats just a tail. She is awesome and wants to be a mermaid as well.
She helps me with all the events and parties we do. We read to the kids play games, swim, and even give little goodies to the birthday kids. We work on our skills all the time by swimming at the springs and the pools. We love it it’s our life! I also am pretty crafty and make Crowns and Necklaces. I’ve sold to serval mermaids.
Our tails are fabric by the tail maker Mertailor in my opinion is amazing the monofin is made of silicone so it flows in the water like a fish. We have also been featured in Fins Magazine in issues 4 and 5 wonderful company. We bring our own equipment for pictures and I am CPR certified which is very important.
I’m Merina The Mermaid this is my story
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
With everything, it’s not always perfect have had to buy new equipment cause it can get ruined or broken. Or people can cancel sometimes last minute but we work through it.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I love the craft part of it. Love making others smile and happy.
What do you like and dislike about the city?
Love that you can always find water lol. What I love least can be the weather one minute it’s sunny the next it can rain. But that’s just Mother Nature.
