Today we’d like to introduce you to Tae Ham.
Hi Tae, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
As long as I could remember, I had always been engaged with the arts. From drawing to writing music, I spent majority of my childhood doing just that. I do remember deciding to devote myself to the arts unapologetically around the age of 19.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Oh, not at all! Trying to balance my art with actually being a functioning citizen has had its difficulties. I really like to consume myself in my arts but the reality is, I still have to make a living. So trying to balance creating for myself and creating for others to financially provide for myself has been one of the biggest challenges for me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I create every way I see fit! I do specialize in oil paintings but I also create music. I am known to do both. I think I am most proud of the fact that I do not let people limit my creativity. I unapologetically create through whichever avenues I feel called to create through and not all the time is that received well by others but I don’t care. I create for me, first. I also think that is what sets me apart from other artists. I don’t limit myself.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Interesting question, ha. I don’t think most people know that I dance a lot while I paint. It really helps me feel more connected to my pieces for some reason. I love dancing, its always freed my soul.
