Daily Inspiration: Meet Raul Lezcano

Today we’d like to introduce you to Raul Lezcano.

Raul, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
On The Clock Radio was created during the pandemic.

My friends and I were all stuck at home at our own house during the mandate “stay at home” order and were on a lot of Zooms calls with college football coaches to help get the players we coach in high school recruited despite what was going on. It was at that time we learned we had a real gift of having great conversations with some of NCAA’s greatest coaches.

We would stay on Zoom calls for hours talking about sports, family, and each other’s backgrounds and telling some of the most hilarious stories we had. It was after a dozen calls that we decided to create a sports podcast that would not only talk about sports but also current events and help highlight local high school athletes.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In the beginning, it was a bit of a struggle to have guests on and to really find our groove.

Guests weren’t sure if they can come on and needed to get permission to see if they can talk on the show. That would take weeks to get approved. We would still do the shows but we knew if we wanted to get to the next level we would need some guests.

And then boom, guests were coming on every week. Major D-1 college athletes were doing the show. Then came the D-1 coaches, NFL players, former players, NBA players and the list goes on and on.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
The show is all I am focused on these days. With a strong Instagram presence, we are able to monetize the show and have sponsors.

I never thought originally that the show would open up so many doors but it really has been a lot of fun. What sets us apart is that we have all played sports, coached sports, and just absolutely love all sports.

What makes you happy?
Being a father is my biggest joy.

My kids are my biggest motivator in everything I do. Seeing them laugh and enjoy life makes all the stress of my day worth it. Growing up I didn’t have a great relationship with my dad and always wanted to.

Having kids of my own made me make sure to be the best version of myself I can be for them.
