Daily Inspiration: Meet Mayde Figueroa

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mayde Figueroa.

Hi Mayde, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
Ever since I was a little girl, I have enjoyed being in front of the cameras. I used to play around and imitate celebrities that were my inspiration because I wanted to be just like them. My parents noticed the passion that I had towards the arts and they gave me the opportunity to be part of an academy. In the academy, I learned how to dance, sing, model and how to express myself as I wanted. Throughout the years, I carried those tools with me and I kept experimenting on my own. In addition, social media played a big factor of my love towards the fashion and beauty industry. I followed celebrities and models that would post content that I wanted to recreate. Therefore, I would ask family members or friends to take the pictures for me to post on my accounts. I kept sharing my content for fun, but during quarantine, things changed. Despite being one of the most saddest times of my life, I realized that it was time for me to follow my dreams. I knew what I wanted to do, but I was too scared because I did not want to let anyone down. Nevertheless, I put myself first and made the decision to pursue modeling. For that reason, I had faith in my talents and I kept doing what I loved because I was determined to reach my goals. I am still in the path of growing, but with my consistency, I know that my time will come.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I am not going to lie, not everything is what it seems. There is a lot of competition in the fashion and beauty industry. If you don’t look a specific way or do not have big numbers, you are probably not going to be considered. Nowadays, that causes a lot of mental and physical problems because most girls feel less due to false beauty standards. I have left behind those negative thoughts and realized that true beauty is from our inside. Also, I was really caught up with growing my numbers that I slowly started to push away people that I loved. Unfortunately, I noticed when it was too late. Looking back, I wish things would have been different, but at least I learned my lesson. It has not been a smooth road, but if it wasn’t for my mistakes, I would have not grown into the better person that I am.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a content creator that specializes in fashion and beauty. Besides doing those things, I work with brands by modeling their clothes or sharing their items on my social media accounts. For example, my services vary from unboxing, post on feed and reels/TikTok. I have the opportunity to reach a big audience and they know me for entertaining, teaching, and inspiring them in the best way possible. Apart from this, I try to be more than just a face or body. I want them to see me as an inspiration that even when we are on our lowest level if we don’t give up, good things will come for us. For example, I used to share content for fun because I never knew that I could make a living out of it. People thought that I was really caught up with myself and they did not support me. On Halloween 2020, I decided to recreate Madison Beer’s outfit as my costume. Little did I know that I would be recognized by the queen, herself. I remember receiving a call from my best friend screaming: “GIRL, YOU ARE IN MADISON BEER’S INSTAGRAM STORY!!!” Then, I went on Instagram and noticed that not only did she shared me on her story, but she also left a comment on my post. I could not believe that my idol herself recognized me in such a way. I was more than grateful and since then, I knew I was in the right path of doing what I love.

What are your plans for the future?
Right now, I am a business student in the University of South Florida majoring in digital marketing. I am still in the path to obtain my bachelor’s degree. My main focus is to finish my studies and to have the adequate experience to work as a professional. I am still figuring out what I want to do, but I do visualize myself as a powerful woman that will get everything that I desire by my hard work.
