Daily Inspiration: Meet Alex Retro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex Retro.

Hi Alex, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
We started our band Atomic Treehouse in 2016 out of pure desire to rock. Our drummer Eric and I have been close friends for a long time and we were always trying to start bands. One day I was at my friend Johnny’s house and his brother had left a bass guitar behind. Apparently, Johnny had been practicing on it and getting pretty good. So of course, I was like, “dude you should join our band”.

The three of us started practicing and recording demos, then playing shows of course. In 2019 we finally recorded a studio album, and in 2020 added another guitarist (Preston who also plays in a sweet pop-rock band called The Easy Button). Now we’re releasing more new music which you can find on Spotify and Apple Music and everywhere else.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Oh it’s been an adventure alright! When we were recording our first album, we would drive to Daytona every couple months to this place Killian Studios to record a few songs at a time. I swear we missed our exit every time due to construction and we’d have to loop an extra half hour past the race track. So that road was definitely not very smooth… literally! *laughs*

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Right now, it’s just a lot of fun doing this band. I mean, we’re a pop-punk band so there’s no real pressure but to have a good time, which is basically no pressure at all. At our shows, the main goal is to make sure the crowd is having fun and forgetting their worries. I know that’s what I’m doing when I’m up on stage rockin’. We’ve all got our battles in our personal lives, but with music, we can all just unite and party!

We’d be interested to hear your thoughts on luck and what role, if any, you feel it’s played for you?
Luck? Oh man I have no idea! It’s all been about hard work but also about how we interact with others. I wouldn’t give “luck” credit for anything, instead, I’d like to give credit to our friends, fans, and families who all love and support us. They’re the real MVPs!
