Conversations with Melissa Wise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Wise.

Melissa, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Getting where I am today didn’t come easy. Although I began to love hair and makeup as a little girl, it all began when I took the leap of pursuing cosmetology school at 17 years old.

I had my fair share of figuring out where my passion would thrive but at the first wedding I had the opportunity to do hair and makeup, I knew from the moment I entered the room, that’s where I belonged. There’s something about getting to be such a huge part of someone’s special day, being able to be one of the first vendors they see in the morning to set the tone for the day, it just came so easy to me, so natural.

After cosmetology school, I freelanced myself as “Made Up By Moscato” with the goal of wanting to have a team of artists work for me in the future. Although that took some time, I made it to where I wanted to be and am enjoying every moment of owning and operating a successful business.

As not only the owner of Made Up By Moscato but a professional artist myself, I take pride in being personable with each and every person who sits in my chair, making sure to have a full understanding of the look they want to achieve while providing my professional advice.

Making my clients feel beautiful and confident is always my goal, and to do so I always strive to continue my education and keep up to date with the latest trends. There is truly nothing greater than doing what you love for a living!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
A smooth road? Not so much. I don’t believe anything in life comes without a few bumps in the road, but it’s all about what you make of it. Turning bumps into experiences to put under your belt, learn from, and grow from is what’s important.

Having people to turn to help me face many challenges. I’m grateful enough to have an amazing support system. My husband, children, and family truly helped me get through obstacles in my journey that I never thought was possible.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a traveling professional makeup artist, hair stylist, and certified spray tan technician with 10+ years of experience.

My specialty is bridal makeup and hair but I have also mastered several other techniques for your basic day-to-day looks, to all events and special occasion glam. I have done many kinds of training as well as certified others in hair styling and makeup applications.

I am most proud of achieving the dream of owning and operating my own company and remaining an artist to perform services to clients and do what I love all while being a wife, and mother to three beautiful children.

What sets me apart from others is the overall experience you get while in my chair. I take pride in being personable, and professional, and giving you a luxury experience that you’ll remember for a lifetime.

What matters most to you? Why?
What matters most to me is making sure I have a full understanding of what my client’s wants and needs are.

It’s so important to consult each person you’re going to be performing a service on to assure you deliver their desired results. As a professional, you have to be able to listen to detail, offer advice, and also receive criticism.

Making each individual’s experience customized is by far the most important thing I’ve learned throughout my career.
